View Full Version : Train Trestle

This is a train trestle near where I grew up in New Brunswick, Canada. We used to hide up under the trestle when the trains went by...can you imagine????!! I can still feel it!

Wanted to do this for a long time, so I followed Vivien's advice and lay down a layer of watercolour background, then filled in with pastel. I really like the result, that soft blending is really wonderful with pastels.

I used Van Gogh watercolour on Canson 300lb paper, a mixture of Mungyo gallery pastels, Pitt Pastel crayons (love them!) and conté crayons.

I am not a professional, but this is a huge improvement for me and it besides, makes me happy :-)

Note: There is something about the top of the trestle I don't like..not sure what it is...lack of depth or something? Please comment!
