Your greens are so natural looking and varied. DH would like the orderliness of your garden corner whereas I want to see behind the fence and examine more closely that wildness and free abandon peeping over the fence. The hits of blue and purple in the soil are rather wonderful, and a lovely surprise.

Awesome! This is the kind of painting we want to look at in February when the sleet is coming down. Is the mounted charcoal paper something new for you, Derek?

Donna: I had a couple of sheets of that paper and put it to good use. Mounting it helped to make it durable. No headaches on this one. I worked flat and made a dust catcher (narrow, tall box out of foam core to tap into).
I notice that on the easel, the dust drops and flies around. Not when you work flat. This was small enough to do on a drafting table.

What a beautiful composition and a magnificent pastel.. A harmony of colors so delicate! It gives me the desire to rest me to admire its smallest corners and also, let us admit it, to have a look by top of the blue barrier and finally see what it hides us!

No headaches on this one.

 That's great news, Derek! I'm so glad you have figured out a way to keep painting with pastels!

Alain and Ed.
Thanks very much.
Hi Christiane: I appreciate it.
Ed: the hardboard was primed (both sides) white pigmented shellac. Then I used a product called rollataq (becoming very popular). Waterproof and permanent. I roll it on with a brayer, mount the paper, then use a dry roller to adhere.

Donna: I am a happy camper.

Perfection. Great colors in everything. The range of "greens" you achieved have me amazed. Pam. p.s. Finally sat on LBI beach today for the first time this summer. I guess when you live near it you know it will be there when you want to go so you forget to think of it as a real treat.

I love the way you've painted all the different plants. Pots and fence look really nice offsetting the greens of the plants.

I'd know who painted this on first sight - lovely work Derek! I especially enjoy the pot; it's so well done. Such a peaceful, quiet painting - sigh.

You must do a demo on that new paper and how you mounted it. It sounds intriguing.
