Hi,

I am new to sharing my work here :) I work in textiles. This is my latest piece, "Kelly". It is 38 x 53 inches, dye painted & quilted wholecloth. C&C welcome.

Artist Statement: Kelly was my introduction to the stunning beauty of Kenya. Feeding this graceful, gentle giant was a perfect antidote to my jet lag and culture shock. In this quilt I captured her sweet nature and approachability, and the desire to reach out and touch her.

Quite charming! It made me smile this morning. And I like the black background. Great job. :)

Very unusual perspective here, it came into focus slowly for me and that slow unfolding of recognition added to the charm of the piece for me. Very nice work.

Very captivating dahlialia and welcome! We see very few works here that are done with dyes and quilted, very refreshing. Interesting perspective.

No idea what wholecloth is... but I sure found this piece very engaging and attractive.

It is so different from what is usually posted here, and being different is always cool.

Thanks all.

greggo, wholecloth means that it's not a quilt pieced from different fabrics, which is how traditional quilts are typically made. This is one large piece of cotton fabric (which I then dye painted).

It's lovely - perhaps a daft question but is it difficult to paint on?Do you make a frame for the cloth?
