This weekend slipped by and I thought I wouldn't have time for the WDE but I made it in the end :)

This one worked for a double purpose - I wanted to experiment with Inktense pencils again and work on Bristol Board. I expected it would take longer than 2 hours as I didn't want it to go too small and I find using coloured pencils difficult on my hands. It ended up being more like 4, but I took a picture at the 2 hours point.

Here it is at 2 hours (excuse the phone photo and lack of cropping):

And for completeness here is the finished piece:

Derwent Inktense pencils and black pen on W&N Bristol board cut into a 11.5" x 8.5" piece.

Thanks for the gorgeous references, Had a hard time chooseing between this and the barbar but this one just leapt out at me as soon as I saw it.

Ooh..ahhh...pretty! You chose a perfect medium for this scene Heket. A nice blend of abstract, negative spaces and detail. The dark blues in the deep forest really draws the viewer right into the painting, creating lots of depth. I feel like I could wander down the path. Love the light flowing across too. Beautiful and thanks for joining in!

Great job with the inktense pencils! Colors look so fresh which I find quite often difficult not to muddy when painting with pan watercolors. .....must try them. A lovely painting and such depth Heket!

Thanks all! :)

I was impressed with the Inktense. I had been frustrated with them before because I only have the 24 set and I was trying to make subtle landscapes.. not going to happen. In the right frame of mind they shine though. The extended range has more earths but I think they're all going to be as vibrant and saturated. Another thing to remember is that once wetted they dry permanent.

The Bristol board worked well with only minimal curling, but I didn't use much water.
