Very nice, I particularly like what is happening in the lower left quadrant.

Thank you Jon, greggo, chunbumpark, Inward Arts!

Inward Arts - This is in acrylics, I like it that you think it's oils :-)

this is wonderful!

Did you have anything in mind while painting it, or did you just let it flow?

Thanks friesin! I picked the colors first and then let it flow. I had something in mind when I started, but in the end it ended up nothing like that :-)

Picasso said, "One never knows what one is going to do. One starts a painting and then it becomes something quite else. It is remarkable how little the 'willing' of the artist intervenes."

I love this painting. I wish you would post a larger image of it.

The dark spot and streak of red were a nice touch. Balances out and adds contrasting weight vs the majority of more vaporous colors. Is that spot as heavily textured as it looks? Can't tell if it is, or if its pixelated in the photo.
You are already the second person I've seen on here in my brief time getting results from acrylics that I have gone to oils in search of. I'm still too heavy-handed in both media to do it.

cmallav: May I ask, how on earth did you get acrylics to do that? If you don't want to go into detail ~ I understand, just the basics of the technique would be appreciated.

Nice colors and atmosphere, mysterious, makes me think of outer space. The little red things are a great touch traveling up the middle like that.

Katie, jimwhalen, Patrick, trufflecat - I'm truly flattered by all your comments! Thank you!

Inward Arts - I use the glazing technique in order to get the effect you see. I use whatever that's in my sight to paint (brush, pallet knife, cloth, paper, or just my good old hands!) And Oh, a glass of wine and good music helps :wink2:

Acrylics are magic once you stop fighting them & become friends :)
Beautiful work- it's a commanding piece, hard to look away from .
