Hi All, I have a friend going to Madrid for 2 weeks and want to know where I can buy this Spanish palette I've heard about. Any suggestions?
I'll send her with the money but I need to tell her where one can be found.
Not having much luck looking for art supply places in Madrid....
Thanks, Nicole

Hi Clode, It's known as the "Spanish Palette" and is made out of metal with empty whole pans in the middle for filling will tube paint. Does that help?
thx, Nicole :)

Nicole, I am not sure this is what you are looking for but you might find this helpful.
I believe the Spanish Palette is only available in Barcelona so perhaps the best method is to buy it and have it sent to a Madrid address. I have 2 but the shipping is very, very expensive. Do a search on the "Spanish Palette" there is a great deal of information on this palette.

Tred is quite right, they are in Barcelona. Here is the website www.vpiera.com and this is the link to the box http://www.vpiera.com/en/producte:Cos/1/fine-arts/accesories/metal-boxes/metallic-box-for-watercol/32403
As you can see it is €13 and odd change and again as Tred said, they will deliver for you. They charged me €15 for "signed for delivery" but that was to Ireland so I am sure it will be a lot cheaper to deliver to your friend in Madrid. If she is going to a hotel they she may be able to arrange that it is sent to the hotel when she is there?

Before buying online, your friend should try in this shop (the address is at the bottom of the web page):
Bellas Artes JER (http://www.tiendabellasartesjer.com/auxiliares/1668-caja-vacia-desplegable.html)
It's in downtown, here (https://maps.google.es/maps?q=Calle+Hortaleza,+72.+Madrid,+Spain&hl=es&sll=40.413026,-3.692317&sspn=0.006935,0.016512&hnear=Calle+Hortaleza,+72,+28004+Madrid&t=m&z=17)
It seems to be the one outside enameled in white and made by Talens, like this one (http://mitiendadearte.com/magento/caja-paleta-acuarela-rellenable-metalica-esmaltada-blanca.html)
I hope you don't mind :-)

I think Sara is right and that palette in the Madrid art shop is the one you want. It looks like the one I got from Barcelona.

What I have done when ordering deliveries of DS to hotels,is to write myself to the hotel, giving the name of my friend and when they are staying and ask can the front desk take it in and store which they are always glad to do.I found it better to do that than trust that the reception will know what it is, who it is for etc.

Glad you found it. I have this Palette and love it. My only complaint is that when you have it loaded with paint is is heavy.

Well, unfortunately it didn't work out. My friend is skittish about the whole thing for a multitude of reasons. I know it would have worked out but I can only do so much. I couldn't have made it much easier but what can I say?
Spain is on my bucket list so when I go there, I will just pick up a couple myself!!
There is a second option in that I can get together all my watercolor friends that I paint with and we can put in a order for a few and then just split the cost of postage to the US. We did that with a special easel we could only get via England and that worked out so that is also an option for us as well.
Thanks for all your help and advice. I'll just spend that money on something else for my studio.

As it turns out my friend/neighbor didn't tell me that this was a walking tour of Spain where they walked 12 miles per day! If I had known that, I wouldn't have asked because I'd say that might be an extra 4+ pounds for her.
I'll just have to buy them myself at a future trip to Spain whenever that is.
Thanks for all the good tips, my friends.
