Hi Everyone!
I was at Michaels (an arts and crafts retail chain in the US and Canada) the other day when I stumbled upon a metallic acrylic paint set. Even though my preference is definitely with oil, I figured I try out this acrylic set. I was definitely a bit frustrated while I painted this piece. I felt like I was painting with nail polish! The metallic paint presents a uniqueness, but I am not sure it's worth my frustration of using acrylic over oils. Anyways, I spent almost 3 hours on this 6"x8" piece. I took a picture of it inside and outside in the sunlight to show more of the metallic shine.

Thanks for looking!

I like it... And yes, unfortunately we must try all media to know what we enjoy using and what we don't. Glad you were able to experiment for the WDE :) ~Lissa

Its lovely, but perhaps the metallic overpower the piece a bit.
I bought a similar set a few years ago and did not like them either but I have used them to refurbish old frames and that has been pretty successful.

Like the experiment...but you are right good old acrylics and it's various effects always win!

This is so different...and unusual! Lovely iridescence to it.
Maybe the metallic would work better on a different surface? Or even try it with a retarder or other medium.

Nice outdoors shot. Good job on the cow.

The outside shot looks pretty darn good, T h a e s h a!
I think the metallics would be more useful as merely accents within a standard acrylic painting.

Nice job. I think irridescents work better over a darker color (to show their sheen). I've only tried them in watercolors which ends ups just a very subtle change. I like what you've done!

I love to experiment with things too. Some are good and some are not, but that is what we try them for to see if we will like them. I like this. Will you try them again? I saw them in the store today and resisted. I have so much stuff I will never use it all.
