View Full Version : 75 Day Sketch Challenge - The Second Time Around
07-18-2013, 09:04 PM
I completed the challenge the beginning of March, and haven't sketched much since then, so I thought I would start a second 75 day effort to keep myself and my pen busy.

My 2 granddaughters are staying with me this week. The first sketch is Kateri, who decided to sketch me after I finished my sketch of her.
Next is "Caramel", Kateri's Build-a-Bear puppy.
And last is Jadyn, Kateri's older sister, who asked if she could continue to watch the tv show she was engrossed in while I sketched.

Brenda gave you your "Artistic License" and you are off running! Good job!

Excellent sketches. Great to be challenging yourself again.

Thanks, Joan and Debby. I seem to need a "challenge" to motivate me to keep sketching.

Day 14 - Kateri and Caramel Puppy watching TV. Hands, feet and legs are hard enough to do when they are staying still. These kept moving.
Day 15 - Jadyn Painting - As you can see, I decided to avoid sketching the hand on this one altogether.
Day 16 - Kateri's hat - We decorated foam visors this week.
The girls are going on vacation with their parents next week. I don't know what I will sketch when they are gone.

You'll find something I'm sure. Great sketches of the girls.

Sketching my LeSportsac bag was a lot of fun, but it took forever. :)
I did this one of my foot while watching TV
My shoe was another difficult one to do directly with pen.
Still behind but working on it.

I told you, you'd find something to sketch. Great job on mundane subjects.

Thank you, Debby and Vivien. Here are a few more. If I do a sketch today I should be all caught up.
Day 20 - My left foot in a sandal, looking down with sketchbook in my lap.
Day 21 - Rose of Sharon - My friend picked a bunch of these for me to sketch.
Day 22 - Peace Rose Bud - I had to cut it to get close enough to see it for sketching.

Great sketches. Good to see you keeping up with your challenge.

These are great and they should tell a nice story of your summer. I love challenges like this, really keeps one going! :)

Good job on these, Mickey!!!

Thanks, Debby, Pwnderosa, and Joan.
I'm not always doing a great job of keeping up. I keep getting two or three days behind, doubling up to catch up and then getting behind again. But I eventually get caught up, and I'm doing a lot of sketching in the process and enjoying it.
Here are the next 2 sketches:
My next door neighbor's Canna plant. A good sketching subject.
The same neighbor's bunny/wagon lawn statue.

The bunny caught me up to date, and then I fell behind again. These two are attempts to catch up.
I'm not only behind in my sketching, but I'm behind in posting those that I did sketch, due to my computer freezing multiple times a day. Dragging my feet about purchasing a new one.

Bummer about the computer. Lovely flower sketches.

I've been doing most of my 75 day sketches in my 9 x 12 Flexi-Sketch, but today I took a small 4 x 6 sketchbook to the town pool and sketched the lifeguard before swimming my laps.

 Great job on the lifeguard. Glad you decided to do something at the pool. Good for you!

Cool lifeguard sketch.

Thanks, Joan and Debby.
Here are some more:
I took an early morning "hike" (more like a short walk) and sketched this footbridge through the garden at our local wildlife center. Lots of ferns, no flowers.
I stopped to buy tomatoes and peaches, and came back with a new little jade plant. I hope I don't kill it too soon.
This time, I sketched my own feet before I swam my laps.

Great sketches. It actually takes quite a bit to kill a Jade plant. I was taking care of my mom's last spring. I was taking it outside to get some sun, and forgot to bring it back it. There was frost that night. The leaves turned brittle and fell off, but new leaves were growing before the frost-bit leaves had fallen off. The thing survived just fine. I thought I'd killed it.
