 Howdy fellow WDErs...

I'm hosting the WDE this weekend!

I will be posting 16 images and a challenge ....

Please wait until all are uploaded before commenting - thank you.

You have 30 minutes to make your choice and choose your materials - you may use any medium.

For the next two hours, just go for it……then STOP!, scan or photograph your work and post it in your own new thread with your title, beginning with WDE, plus date, plus title.

When you introduce your work, please add a description of size, medium, support (paper, canvas etc) and time taken.
If your work is digital, we'd appreciate a description of whether it's freehand drawing/painting, manipulated image or done using the filters available in some programmes - you could also say which programme you've used.
All are acceptable but we'd like to know the "hows, whys and wherefores"!!:)

Use WIP for any work in progress at the 2 hour mark, and MI for multiple images if other works are to be added before the following Monday.

NB. To avoid forum flooding, please put all of your work during the weekend, for the current WDE, into a single thread: multiple threads will be merged!
From the following TUESDAY, you may open a new thread for later work.

You have the whole week to participate - until the next WDE starts (usually Friday). If you finish a piece after that time, we now run a 'Catch-up' thread in the forum each month where you can post any WDE not completed in its allotted week .... it's a sticky near the top of the forum page.

After posting your contribution, please view others’ entries and comment and encourage when you can. Unless requested, please refrain from critiquing.

This is for all abilities, so don't be afraid to join in the fun....it's an excellent chance to try out that new paper, material, medium or technique or just experiment.....

We are currently having a UK heatwave after a decade of washouts, floods, single figure temperatures. When I selected the refs it was approaching June and still no sign of Spring let alone summer.... so I decided to be somewhat tongue-in-cheek and decided to celebrate the great British summer, of quagmires and clouds.... then we get a tropical heatwave....... oh well...let's celebrate our USUAL GREAT BRITISH SUMMERTIME! There are some days with some sunshine, but it was usually cold.

I hope there is something for everybody.....

This horse and cart is used to take visitors around the shire horse farm in Eglwswrw in Wales. There are 2 cart horses, both shires, this one is Max, he only has one eye because he caught it on a thorn and got an infection. He's soon to retire, but loves his work too much. He's training up his successor Jackson, his field mate.

Hey All:

Just wanted to say hello, I " invented " the WDEs or FNDs as I coined the phrase back in 2001. Another artist friend pointed out to me that WC is still doing them, and I'm so proud to have contributed something back to this site... since they were kind enough to introduce me to a myriad of new friends, and my future wife! :D

I wish you all the best, and hope you enjoy this community spirit as much as I did. Back when I thought of this event, I just wanted people to share their skills, their styles, and draw something for fun, and not get caught up in the normal labor we put into our work. These events were designed to get us out of our comfort zones, draw things we wouldn't normally do, and loosen us up for more ideas to draw.

I wish you and all involved the best of luck, and to the host, who's tireless effort is never appreciated enough, thank you for keeping the inspiration of these events alive.

Well Bobby, i'm honoured that you popped in to say hi on my hosting...

I joined the WDE a fair few years back now and it has certainly helped me to develop my skills and encouraged me to try new genres, materials and mediums that I would NEVER have tried otherwise....many of which I now use regularly and love.

Through the WDE we've developed friendships as well as our skills....

YOUR SPIRIT LIVES ON

and as current host, I'd like to thank you on behalf of all us regular WDErs.

We get new members showing up all the time.

Lin, thank you for hosting and thank you so much for including Dave the Cat! That's a wonderful photo of him, he looks so sweet sleeping like that. Great position. He's so beautiful. All of these are so interesting this time! Cool ones of the smithy, the other animals, the beach, the weather. Cool challenge too.

Of course if I really felt up to a challenge I would do Dave the Cat and put an imaginary window with a sun patch blazing on him as he dozes. He looks so contented!
