all phots 2013 Camp Sawdust Studios

I took some phots of mine ,
played with them in PSE8
and will be using the strong contrasts to create paintings of patterns with 'color fields'

I found if I look at these patterns from a distance they are interesting,
just as patterns,
even though they are recognizable to me as vehicles.
Made 150 of these after perusing folders and folders of phots from car shows I've attended, lots of memories.

The first one got my attention! The second and third, not so much.

I think your value studies are quite beautiful, and useful. I've started doing that for my own works in progress.

Alan--thanx for the input! With so many to choose from it will be difficult to decide.
altho....if I did nothing but paint for 10 hours a day for the next year I could get them all done.....

raeburn--doing very strong B&W studies seems to help more than just converting phot to grayscales.

I need all the help I can get.

Haha, dude, you'll be painting for like eternity with all the studies you have done

However, now I just saw your photos in color-- the second is amazing and would make for an awesome piece... followed by the first. Funny how things look in monochrome.

I needed the B&W to get the shapes and values right. Now I'll get out the old box of Color-Aid chips and choose colors.

Who ever thought those samples from Color Theory I would ever have a use!

Yeah yeah yeah that first one is great - do go for that one - great lines and seeing it in BW is a cool look too. Also love that 1959Scootacar photo, shapes in it are very good. Good ones greggo!

Thanx Dave! Believe it or not, this green convertible was filthy, on a trailer after being rescued from a barn. I must have phot'd the only clean place.

I just liked the way the shadows accented the curves.

It was for sale for $10,000 as was, very rare car with low miles, but gonna cost a LOT to restore. Sure wish I'd has the money, I would have bought!!!!
