This is the newest in the series I am working on....not sure I am done. What do you think?

I also love this, the depth, the richness of color. Curious how you got the circles? I don't know a thing about encaustic so maybe if I did I'd understand! love it.

Thanks for the comments.

Inward the circles are accomplished with oil pigment and layers of wax, heated using a torch. I work on either a heated or cooled surface depending on the effect I want to create.

Do you tilt the work while it is hot to manipulate the shapes?

I don't really tilt the surface that much. Sometimes very slightly, but most often not. I use the heat source to move the wax and fuse the colors.

I think is done. It's great! I've tried similar things with acrylics but it seems a struggle to keep the viscosity at a good level-- the color meld together to readily. I have a 20x 20 piece of polished metal I had considered painting on but not it seems a waste to cover it up. After seeing this I'd love to do something like you did-- perhaps rust the surface first. Anyway great job. I'd love to see the rest of the series.
