Lol...good sense of humor and probably very true although I have no kids but can imagine once they are approaching the age to fly the coop one starts thinking... ~moe

As a father with adult children I cannot relate to the story. Could you explain the horse? I am not understanding how having an older child at home prevents the purchase of a horse. Perhaps the horse is a symbol for things in general this man wishes to buy but feels a financial obligation to only spend discretionary income on his child?

I don't get it either. I'm the parent of two younger children and although I was to see the glorious moment when they are able to spread their beautiful wings for the entire world to see, I am in no way in a hurry for it to come. Or do I waste what precious time I have with them daydreaming of a time when they are gone.
