I love your colors and the tranquility they convey but am thinking the tonal variations need a little more pop - I suppose it could be an underexposed photo which doesn't show more of the pizazz of your work.
I made a gray scale from your photo and I think there are plenty of middle tones but I am missing more highlights. Just my opinion, what do you think?
The colors are beautiful and restful, very springy and fresh.

Hi Dave, here is another photo..is this better?..actually I do tend to get mixed up with tonal values sometimes...

I like the cheerfullness of this, but I agree with Dave that this could use some (just some) more strong darks
thanx 4 sharing this with us

Very nice. Agree 100% with davefriend: the coloration makes this one. Like that it suggests a corner clump of an herb/flower garden but remains abstract enough to suggest 100 other things, including nymphs, sylphs and other sorts of beings sprinkled about. It's a mood enhancer, this one, the oxytocin of abstract. Well done.

Showing the tonal values has been fun. It's rather soft and pretty, Katie, but I feel with some dark tones it would make the 'pop' we all like :).

Dave....Thanks I see it now..there are too many mid range tonal values.

I don't get here all that often anymore, but your stuff never fails to delight. And I love this one....the very first version. If only it were at least twice as large.

Jim...glad you like it!
Karen...I have missed you!:) Glad you like, yes the size is a tad small, ideally I would prefer to paint on around 20 x 20", but oddly enough I cannot find this size anywhere despite my best efforts.
