View Full Version : WDE June 28/29 IMAGES HERE

06-27-2013, 08:22 PM
I starting a bit early because I want to go out and play with :eek:MY NEW CAR:eek::eek:

I will be posting 16 images and a challenge.

Please wait until all are uploaded before commenting - thank you.

You have 30 minutes to make your choice and choose your materials - you may use any medium.

For the next two hours, just go for it……then STOP!, scan or photograph your work and post it in your own new thread with your title, beginning with WDE, plus date, plus title.

When you introduce your work, please add a description of size, medium, support (paper, canvas etc) and time taken.
If your work is digital, we'd appreciate a description of whether it's freehand drawing/painting, manipulated image or done using the filters available in some programmes - you could also say which programme you've used.
All are acceptable but we'd like to know the "hows, whys and wherefores"!!:)

Use WIP for any work in progress at the 2 hour mark, and MI for multiple images if other works are to be added before the following Monday.

NB. To avoid forum flooding, please put all of your work during the weekend, for the current WDE, into a single thread: multiple threads will be merged!
From the following TUESDAY, you may open a new thread for later work.

You have the whole week to participate - until the next WDE starts (usually Friday).

After posting your contribution, please view others’ entries and comment and encourage when you can. Unless requested, please refrain from critiquing.

Day 2 Street vendors in Lahaina. They were making very clever bowls and hats from palm fronds and trying to sell them to us.

Day 3 Taken at a Winery at Hilo. I found the fresh pineapples in Hawaii delicious, but I did not think much of their pineapple wine.

Cardinal bird somewhere in Hawaii - So different from home but so beautiful and fearless. It let me get so close and posed beautifully for the shot.

This was taken at the side of the road somewhere close to the Canadian Alaskan border. It was so perfect and beautiful and if we had passed there an hour earlier or later then we would have missed it. Isn't nature wonderful.

Grand canyon resort- none of the pictures I took of the canyon did it justice. What a stunningly beautiful and totally awesome work of nature. http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/27-Jun-2013/92305-Grand_Canion_800x614.jpg

Well thats it for the holiday. It was hard to pick the 16 shots that would be interesting to paint but also told the story of my big adventure. I hope you find something you like.

I have tried to give the highest possible resolution on all the refs and my challenge to you is to zoom in on your chosen ref and pick out a portion only for your piece.

Have fun with it.

I'm off now to get used to my New Car

oh wow, I've been sitting here quite a while, watching and admiring your photos. I am trying to imagine how it must be to see all that in real life... you certainly had a really great time.
And you are right in your texts ref. the photos: nature is really wonderful.. we should respect that much more.

(I am just a beginner, hence not sure whether I will get something out of these, but wanted to let you know how much I like your photos)

Fantastic refs!!!!!! Seems kind of ironic that the back drop for the Elvii (which I love by the way) is Big Hot Pastrami.

what sort of creature is that? Is it a squirrel?

06-29-2013, 07:02 PM
I think so but I am not sure. Maybe someone can tell us. She was a fearless little thing and had a few pups that were and popping in and out on the other side of the wall but I could not get a good shot of them.

Love your pictures. Brings back lots of memories. I too loved the pineapple in Hawaii. It is like all fresh vegetables and fruits, never better than when it is allowed to ripen on the vine, tree, bush or whatever. Loved the macadania nuts too. The glaciers in Alaska are awesome. My friend, her husband and granddaughter left this morning to do a driving tour. We went on a cruise when we were there. We saw a little of the grand canyon but there was 14 ft. of snow on the northern rim when we were there so did not get to go in, Saw a little in the southern part. First time we were in Vegas was 1957. Not much there then, but you could get the best eats for next to nothing. Has grown too large now, I think. Sry, about living my trips over with you. I will try and get something painted this week, did not make it last week. GUESS YOU KNOW I LOVED YOUR PICTURES.
