Hi Joel and fellow artists!

Thank you for hosting. Some interesting images this week. Love Yoshino cherries. Planted over 100 of them on my farm out in West Virginia. So, each Spring we get a real treat for about 2 weeks! The honeybees love the blooms, too.

I did 2 versions of the cherry walk, because I saw it in 2 different ways. Both oil, about an hour each, and 8x8. Looking forward to everyone's posts this week!

Dave

Hey Dave - I really enjoyed your interpretations here - I favor the first for my personal style - but both are very well done.

Had to comment as I noticed your reference to WV - I grew up in Charleston years ago and have followed the latest 150th celebrations:) .

Also see your Greenbrier ref - I have a cousin (haven't seen in ages) who is a physician in the Lewisburg area. That whole part of the state is gorgeous - drove thru last summer (from Charleston, over Rt 60, past Hawk's Nest, to the Covington, VA area for a reunion where I used to work at a camp decades ago).

Also checked out your blog - really like your pastel work. Enjoyed especially your landscapes.

Dave! Thanks for these two paintings! They are both lovely ang like Maureen I'm glad I don't have to choose. It is so nice to see two different takes on the same scene by the same artist. The colors are beautiful!

Yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the entries for this weekend too!

Wow - 100 cherry trees - must be like paradise : ) I can see why you chose this image - both are great but very different. I like the different approaches.

Its number 2 for me Dave, it has a light hearted feel and those colours are wonderful.

Enjoyed seeing both takes Dave! The first is like a soft, impressionist approach...a natural organic feel (???)
The second more expressionist....intense color...bold design.

In ref to Ginny's comment: I've been to the Hawk's Nest in WV years back. Beautiful spot.

They are both equally beautiful Dave, but I love the second one because I personally love strong color. Yet again the first has a wonderful sense of perspective with the couple walking down the road and the huge cherry blossom trees enveloping the area against the wonderfully bright sky - now that's what I call a "flowery" appraisal! LOL

Dave, these are both beautiful, think I like the first one best. Southerner here. Miss the North Georgia peaches on my grandfathers farm.

Very different views! Both are interesting, I have my favorite among them but both are well done in their styles.

Thanks so much, Ginny. You'll have to make it back to the hills. I love it out there. Spend my work week in DC, so weekends in WV are, as they say, "almost" heaven. My hometown is Lewisburg.
