View Full Version : WDE June 21-23 IMAGES HERE!!!

06-20-2013, 06:29 PM
Hello everybody! I'm posting early because I'm doing this before I head for work:lol: I hope you will be happy to wake up with the photos already uploaded.;)

You have thirty minutes to make your choice and choose your materials - you may use any medium.

For the next two hours, just go for it then STOP. Scan or photograph your work and post it in your own new thread with your title beginning with WDE - plus the date, plus your creative and catchy title.

Use WIP for any work in progress at the 2-hour mark and MI for multiple images if more works are to be added before the following Tuesday.

NB: to avoid forum flooding, please put all your work during the weekend, for the current WDE, in one single thread. Multiple threads will be merged!
Beginning the following Tuesday, you may create a new thread for your later work.

You have the whole week to participate until the next WDE starts (usually the next Friday).

It is assumed we are all appreciative of comments others make, so it's ok not to say "Thank you to everyone!"

After posting your contribution, please view the works of others and comment if you can. Unless requested, please refrain from critiquing.

This weekend, we are visiting several countries - thanks to my FaceBook friends: Budz Chan, Michelle Basco, Joy Sabado, Sato Raypon and Tony Abad. They are all excited to see how you guys will interpret their photos. I sure hope you find something you like. Apologies to still life painters and pet lovers - since these came from travel photos, we have none of those this week.

Let's begin:

First on the list, let's get some blessing from three young Monks of Cambodia:

Then let's go to the southern most parts of the Philippines - Tawi tawi, Sulu - where the sea is literally part of life because their houses are built on it.
Thanks to Sato for the 2 images

Let us quickly zoom to this amazing view: a fjord in Norway (thanks Tony A.)

Then let's quickly fly to the desserts and dunes of Namibia (thanks to Michelle):
At Soussusvlei

and the mysterious Deadvlei

More coming... please don't comment until I'm done. . .

From Namibia in Africa, we go to South Korea in Asia and marvel at the beautiful cherry blossoms (thanks Joy S.):

The next photos are courtesy of my friend Budz Chan from his recent trip to Peru (Machu Picchu and Galapagos Island) with his wife.

That's it folks! I'm sorry, since I just grabbed this from my friends' FB albums (with permission, of course), I have no larger images. I carefully chose those with good resolutions so I hope you are ok with these.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Awwww sorry to disappoint NonyKor:o :( :crying:

I promise to include a photo of the "babies" next time - although they aren't so small anymore. The youngest just turned 7 and the eldest celebrated his 12th birthday the other day. We came back from a short break in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) right before school opening here and I promise to use the photos I took in my next hosting. I'll send them your regards!

You're right about the name of the Galapagos according to Wikipedia "The islands were named "Insulae de los Galopegos" (Islands of the Tortoises) in reference to the giant tortoises found there."

Great selection of photos.

WOW Joel
That is some trip around the world. Sorry I've been away on my holidays with limited WiFi access and no printer, plus being out and about for long days and living in a tent it was a bit awkward.

I'm loving some of these refs though so might do something late...

I love those houses over the sea with the kayaks/canoes? (never know the diffence :P ) parked outside like we'd park our cars on drives.

what a lovely adventure I've missed this week.

Hi Lin. You can always catch up. I'd love to see your work when you get the chance to work on any of the refs.

Enjoy the vacation!

Hi Joel! Great images! I'll have to save something for later. My world is too full of computer drama to play this week. Thanks for hosting! :)
