We made a special trip to Gorey (http://goo.gl/maps/5612d), a beautiful place. It was blowing a gale and very unpromising when we arrived, but while in the café the sun came out and it was a beautiful sight.
Mont Orgueil Castle from the café. Built by King John 1199-1216.
Castle from promenade.
Jersey is a beautiful island and well worth a visit. Not a scrap of litter or graffiti on the whole island.

Beautiful photos, Doug. You are as great a photographer as you are a painter!
That is a beautiful place. That castle is scary looming over the village like that.
Glad you and Ruth had such a lovely vacation.

That castle is scary looming over the village like that.
Quite the reverse, the castle protected the village from invaders.
Wonderful photos Doug. I was also thinking 'challenge' as I scanned them lol

Wonderful photos, Doug. I love looking at travel photos since I will never actually visit. It opens up ones world.
How did they ever build that lighthouse on top of that rock? That is one impressive castle when you see it over the town. Love the colors of the bridge, and the many little boats you photographed.

You've become too predictable, Doug... I was thinking you had some wonderful Challenge photos in this group... Your Holiday looks as though it was fantastic... what a beautiful place! I loved the giant castle dominating the landscape. Can it be toured?

Yes, a beautiful island Char, and thinking of you, easy to get around on island tour buses or public transport. Yes you can visit the Mont Orgueil Castle (http://www.jersey.com/English/sightsandactivities/attractions/attractions/Pages/montorgueilcastle.aspx), access either by the path shown on the Café photo or the steps in the other photo.

Nice work as always Doug.
I have not been there myself, perhaps a trip to add to the 'Bucket List'?
Eileen has been to a job interview though!

Definitely Geoff. Remember public transport aroun the island is excellent with modern easy access buses. There are also two companies running island tours, Tantivy and Waverley. The island is also served by two low cost airlines, we flew with Easyjet.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful trip photos, Doug. When you talked about your destination, it was not a place I had ever seen any pictures of, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Now it's on my "bucket list" also!

Doug these are great photos! Compositional skills we gain as painters carry over to photography ;)
Are these open to be painted as reference photos for WC members? It'd make me really happy ..

I'll be posting some full size in the RIL today Josh. Yes they are available for painting by wetcanvas members.
I always compose photos with paintings in mind.

Wow Doug, fast jedes Bild ein Augenschmaus!
Ich glaube ich komme morgen rüber zum Malen,
hier gehen mir langsam aber sich die Motive aus.
Wow Doug, almost every frame is a visual treat!
I think I'm coming over tomorrow for painting,
Here I go slowly but from the motive.

GORGEOUS place Doug! It reminds me so much of Scotland, sheer rocks, the sea, quaint seaside village. The castle steps looked vaguely familiar too...much like the castle steps we had to traverse to tour them. ;)
Thanks for sharing a bit of your lovely vacation with us!
P.S. We also flew EasyJet from London to Aberdeen...not much leg room on that plane...good thing it wasn't a long flight. :D Great price though!

Well edited, Doug....Sure beats Peggy's Cove....Now those are places I would love to paint....p.a. of course....;-)
