View Full Version : WDE 7 June 2013 Images Here

06-06-2013, 01:23 PM
Welcome to the 7 June 13 Weekend Drawing Event. Due to tropical storm in area I'll be posting early in case our power goes out later. If power goes out I'm sure some of the other members will be able to answer any questions you have.

You have 30 minutes to make your choice and choose your materials - you may use any medium.

For the next two hours, just go for it then STOP!, scan or photograph your work and post it in your own new thread with your title, beginning with WDE, plus date, plus title.
Use WIP for any work in progress at the 2 hour mark, and MI for multiple images if other works are to be added before the following Tuesday.

Newbies. To avoid forum flooding, please put all of your work during the weekend, for the current WDE, into a single thread: multiple threads will be merged!
From the following TUESDAY, you may open a new thread for later work.

You have the whole week to participate - until the next WDE starts (usually Friday). If you finish a piece after that time, we now run a 'Catch-up' thread in the forum each month where you can post any WDE not completed in its allotted week .... it's a sticky near the top of the forum page.

It's assumed we are all appreciative of any comments others make, so it's OK not to say 'Thank you' to everyone!!!

After posting your contribution, please view other entries and comment and encourage when you can. Unless requested, please refrain from critiquing.

Hope you find an image you like!

Large files are in the RIL pending approval and on Flicker, link will be posted as first comment. If you are unable to access either please fill free to PM me.

Please do not comment until all 16 photo are uploaded.

The first photo was emailed to me for use by the National Elephant Center in Fellsmere, Florida. We are so happy to have them in our area. These are their first residents. The second photo is of Wild Pigs from the NASA Kennedy Space Center, public domain website. This photo was taken in front of the Vehicle Assembly Building. The next photo on their website shows a big gator in water. Scary.

This is the real Ruby and one of her many facial expressions.

Niece Dog Elle always knows how to get comfy.

This photo is from the annual Cocoa Beach Easter Surf Festival. We went out to watch the dogs surf but photso were impossible because everyone was in the water trying to get a good shot. Some awesome surfer dogs though.

If only we could enjoy life as much as children!

Student chefs at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, on the Hudson. If in the area you must go for a meal. One of our members was telling me some wonderful stories of the students from back in the days.

Now for some florals. I was lucky to be in upstate NY when my son's Lilacs were blooming. The butterflies love my shrimp plant. My son gave me this beautiful Calypso Lily for Mother's Day, remind me of Georgia O'Keeffe's art.

A new York Diner. If you decide to paint this and want a photo with the other side to cut and paste PM me. I didn't manage to get a photo of the whole building.

This is the Italian restaurant at the CIA. Yum.

This is the home of Eleanor Roosevelt in Hyde Park NY, across the street from Franklin's family home. Interesting research. Be sure to go to high res to see house better.

This is Lover's Key State Park in Florida, just south of Fort Meyers Beach. I love it there!!

High res. images in RIL here (http://www.wetcanvas.com/RefLib/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=152481).

I'm still trying to learn how to arrange a still life, so feel free to rearrange, omit etc.

Only one challenge, if you do a landscape add some critters. The bears were out this trip to NY at my sons, but all I saw was the scattered trash. I'm sure Eleanor would love something at that pond.

Have fun!!

I could not load the 16th photo or the link to Flicker, the link counted as a photo. So this photo is a separate post. The moderator will combine them with the other 15 photos, I think. Sorry for the confusion.

to start a whole new thread.

Threads merged.:)
For next time, just make a new post in the original images thread; not necessary to start a whole new thread- just reply to yours.
I'm still travelling so may not get time to participate, but thanks for the great set of images!

If you are painting the elephants here is a video that shows you the smallest resident. In the photo you can only see his trunk and chest.

Thanks for some great images! I loved the one of Lovers Key and I'm about to go create my thread to upload it. Using a new computer and it's a Mac so I may be fumbling a bit trying to find the photo I took of my art... lol everything's new and different! Where do Downloads Go?

Hi, I'm new to this forum. Lovely pictures, I think I'll try a floral, they are so lovely. What is the last flower on the list called?
Bye, Prabha

Hi Prabha and welcome. The tag on the flower said Calypso Calla Lily. It was sort of a mauve color but when I put it outside it turned more of a hot pink.
