After my last painting (painting for a church) some of you will be surprised to see that I've done another 'Disnyesque' 'twee' painting so be prepared!

This was ordered for a custom kitchen to cover a blank white 4' x 9' wall. The theme is butterflies, and the direction was make it colorful. The canvas are two 24"x36" gallery wrap with 1 1/2"cradle to be hung unframed. This gives them a one foot surround with one foot between.

All comments welcome! (there have been plenty here. ) so feel free to 'blast away' if you feel you must,............. I would enjoy some good ones as well of course.:smug:

I like it. Although I think that after a few weeks I may want to swipe some of them off the wall ! My only crit would be that in the first panel I feel that having the middle butterfly a little higher and more to the right plus the third butterfly a little lower would suggest more the jerky paths of butterfly flying.
You must have had a lot of fun with this and, surely, that should be what it is all about.

I'm thinking this will be that will be most greatly appreciated in the gloomy days of deep winter!

The angle of the farmhouse seems 'off' as if it tilted. Not sure why it seems like that. Maybe it is the way I am seeing it on the computer, IRL it is probably OK.

Because there is such a wide variety of colors it will be easy to decorate the kitchen around it, and I love the cheerful predominance of yellow.

Thanx 4 sharing this ambitious project with us

Hello, Rocky Barnett. I wonder why anyone could hate such beauty. While I'm not big specialist i can hear my feelings and they say it is amazing work. My congratulations, sir! :)

I couldn't hate your paintings. I would simply classify them as story book paintings. This is a class that I just invented, but I have seen many of this type and they are fun. They belong in children's story books. Nice job.

Rocky, I just plain love this! Your voice is rare, and it is beautiful.

not a darned thing wrong with bright and cheery
the world needs more of it
well done, the flutterby detailing is fabulous
agree with greg about the house, seems tilted forward a titch much and i wonder why it has no windows and doors - could be a subtle counter effect for the 'perfect disney' notion, a little woe in all the pretty .. i'd consider a mild manicure on the front lawn and a less abandoned look, but what do the clients think, it's their call

Wow!, this forum has been a little slow lately, I'm afraid I wasn't prepared for such a quick response....and from those that I hold in very high esteem to boot!
I'll try to keep this in order and be brief, but first I would like to address DanyJohnson: I don't know you yet, but that was a very touching compliment. Thank you! I'm looking forward to getting to know you and hope to see your work as well!
Geoff, I had a great time, I love doing butterflies, but there is not many requests for them...so I think I did about a years worth of 'em. I got in a hurry laying them in though and put that blue one way to close to the windmill. The yellow one was meant to break up the line of the hill a little.(Disneyland doesn't need a roller-coaster too!)
Birdhs, Thank you very much. You are seeing correctly....if it is o.k. with you; I would like to include my response to you in a reply to La, as she has the same concern.
Eyecandy2, I will take that as a well earned complement, I love your dancers and other works. You have quiet a talented way of telling a story yourself. Thank you.
Chuas2, I think you have made me blush! Thank you, and thank you for that quote! That was really cool.(if I may use that word with you)
La, I'm so glad you posted! You are very perceptive. (I wish I had listened to you instead on an earlier painting)
You and Greggo are both right about the house : I 'turned' it slightly from my reference photo for better lighting and inadvertently messed up its perspective some what! I wanted it to look abandoned and quiet.(so not to scare the butterflies!)
And finally!
Andrewcody, Indeed! You are correct! (can we just keep that between us since you know which one it is?)

Here is a better look:http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/05-Jun-2013/1205620-detail2.JPG http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/05-Jun-2013/1205620-detail3.JPG

My feeling exactly! Great painting and fun I'm sure to do and now to see - but not on my kitchen wall. Think my wife would be nudging me with a pot of plain emulsion pronto! Incidentally, my Aunt once had a whole series of ducks on her bathroom wall tiles and her brother (my father), whilst doing some DIY for her, mischieviously painted blindfolds over the ducks to preserve her modesty whilst in the bath!!

you would put kinkade to shame. Sorry, I could not help myself.
You paint well. I hope you can use your skills in the future to some things of better use. Of course, if there is money involved I understand. Depending on the amount I think most of us here would also paint this scene.

You may indeed. Funny thing is, I thought of that quote, but couldn't remember where I got it from. Looked it up, and it was Walt Disney himself! It was meant to be. More importantly, it was meant for you!
Cheers,

Hm, Disney was definitely not what came to mind when I saw this, but then again, I love Disney art. I love the atmosphere in this painting.
