Hi everyone! I spent the morning, and a beautiful one it turned out to be, in the garden of a neighbour, sketching just a very small part of it, with all the people of the Carnegie Gallery Garden Tour passing by. Such a lovely place, I want to go back, and the owner was kind enough to say I could. Now it is bucketing rain, not sure if I'll make it to the afternoon location.

Faber-Castell Multimark permanent S with W/N pans, 6x5 in. in my home made Arches 140lb sketch book. This was at the foot of the ravine lot, and is a favourite spot for them, reminding them of a cottage up north.

Oh Lynn, this is super. I love the solitude of it. That chair is waiting for me. I love that I can walk into your painting and sit down, by myself, and rest awhile!

Beautiful drawing and painting, Lynn. You've conveyed the peaceful solitude of this lovely garden so nicely. :D

Thanks JJ, Char, Ernst and Sylvia, I'm glad you stopped by :)

It is a wonderful garden! I was sitting at the edge of the deck. Behind me was a swimming pool with wide deck all along the side and end, railing, umbrellas and tables, you could put 50 people out there no problem! and all around were mature flowering trees, beauty bush, pink chestnut among them. And then the woods behind that. The owner rescues plants when he can, getting all sorts of things unfamiliar to me.

Hi, Lynn! I was just poking around in the Studio, and came across your delightful, sun-dappled spot in the garden! It has the lovely, cool feeling of a warm afternoon in the shade; I see there are two chairs--should I bring a pot of tea or a bottle of wine?

Cheers, Anne

Hi Anne, do join me, tea would be lovely! They have said I can come back anytime as I would like to do a larger version, so that may happen.

Thanks, Jan, it was one of those that go smoothly from the beginning, I wish I could do it all the time.

Now I am redoing the sketch from the afternoon, I forgot my pens and found it much harder with just the brushes.....nor am I used to working all day. I need to get up to speed!

It is wonderful: the place, and your rendition of it.
