Almost completed but would appreciate some C&C to try and iron out the "dodgy" bits.

with the fur do you use pastel pencils?

with the fur do you use pastel pencils?

hi al84, it depends on the effect I want but in general I use pencils for fur. If I do use a stick then I snap it so I have a sharp edge.

Just lots of layers of strokes (dependant on length and direction of fur) to build up starting with the darkest tones to lightest.

Here's a close up on an eye, that shows the stroke better

Looks GREAT! My only suggestion is punch up the darks around the eyes to match the spots. Well done.

Very nice, I love the whiskers.
I've never been able to get pastel pencils to work on velour, my only suggestion is maybe you could soften the top part of the neck a bit to keep the focus on the tigers face,

Thanks for the kind comments, personally I do like it however the colours look a bit flat, the left ear fades into the background, the nose fur I just cant get the detail correct as the hairs are so tiny and cant be reproduced effectively on velour and the nose looks a bit wonky and I think the eyes need more detail

This is really well done. Your hair is marvelous. But since you asked for C&C here are few to consider.

It may be the photo but the whole painting is a tad washed out.

I would use more of the lovely rusts and reds I saw in the close-up to intensify the fur color in general.

Yes, fade the edges on the neck so the focus is more on the face.

The nose/mouth got skewed a bit at the end. Follow the center line of the face down from the top of the head and you don't end up where the nose/mouth is now.

The eyes are single most important feature. The color needs to be intensified. Darker under the brow and a richer green and gold. Also the iris is a bit small.

The left ear is way smaller than the right ear. Also you could give more depth by making the neck fur darker behind the left ear.

I only mention these to make a good thing better.
