This is a commission job I did for the 53rd Test and Evaluation Group at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, NV. They wanted a piece to show all the aircraft with which they are currently working. They asked for the aircraft to be flying towards the viewer with the unit shield as the centerpiece. The air base and Las Vegas are part of the background.

These compositions challenge an artist as scale and realism must be set-aside. You have done a fine job and I am sure they will be very happy with it.

For a picture with a lot going on, it is surprisingly coherent. Good job!

Thank you Mark, Chas and D'Arcy. There was some discussion in regards to trying to maintain the scale of aircraft in relation to each other. I had to explain there would have to be a little bit of compromise. The unit shield as the central element was the main fixture and I had to build a pleasing composition around it in the space of a reasonably size print.

Great job in getting all this into one scene, Mark.

Thanks Gray. It is always tricky working to a specification and there were quite a few rounds of changes with this one to assure all the aircraft were properly represented.

I really appreciate it when a client takes the time to show me what they do with their artwork. The great folks over at the 53rd TEG sent me this photo of the artwork they framed to present to the unit commander. I am told the Colonel loved it. I know I am a bit biased but I think they did an outstanding job with it. :)
