Very well painted, Darren. I love the light catching the foal on its head, back and legs and the soft hillside background is super. The sunlit grass is also very effective. The painting has a lovely feeling of serenity. I think the shadows from the foal's legs are a bit heavy and "stiff" and perhaps the bank with all those stones is a bit too detailed.
As a composition, perhaps those three parallel lines (top of grass, bottom of grass and water's edge) are a bit unfortunate. It would have been nice if perhaps the grass fell away a bit on an angle.

Overall I think you have painted an excellent picure.

Mike

It could be improved by making it less symmetrical. Not a good idea to have the center of interest in the center of a painting. You could crop most of the tree on the right so that your deer is in the upper third rather than the center. It would create a more pleasing effect.
