I hope I am doing this right. I am new to forums, but I would like to start a thread on copying great equestrian painters. I have copied two paintings by Stubbs so far and would love some feedback. Having researched and copied two different paintings I have a feeling Stubbs took a more water colour approach to his paintings, rather than a monotone under painting. I do not have the original but it is online.

This is very good.

I think you might get additional replies if you post this in
the oil painting main forum. I almost missed seeing this here.

Re: George Stubbs.
I don't think much was written about his techniques.
His paintings of horses are magnificent.

Cheers,
Patricia
