In the Naturel park where I am painting and making photos, there are small ponds as that it. With a lot of "games" of light...http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/12-May-2013/978701-DSC01929.JPG
Pastel on black Canson paper.

Wow I think you captured the games of light and shadow on the trees and water very well and it has a very nice impressionist style.
Although there are lots of greens, it still looks warm.

Oh my...such exquisite detail without being fussy. Lovely use of light in just the right places. That smidgen of highlight in the left center just pulls one right back round to take another look.

I use greens a lot but I try to compensate the "effects" of the green with keys of horse chestnut, sepia, orange ( hot colours). So, I think that the final aspect results less "cold " ( and more warm ).

" without being fussy "...Yes, it is a bit my "obsession"...:) a lot detail but never being fussy... A lot of detail (because I look the world in an analytical manner) but I always try to keep "total" look, group.

I love this painting. I will probably look at it frequently for a lesson in color. I think your color choices are wonderful. Pam:clap:

I love your use of a black support, it makes for a different 9interpretation of a scene. Beautiful, Alain.

Wonderful sense of light and beautiful colors. Your ability to move the viewer's eye around the painting is masterly.

Thank so much all.
Chris; I don't know really why...but sure I love black paper of Canson.
Twiglet; Yes, the " natural looking " is very important ( in my opinion, more important than the "intellectual looking").
Thank's Judi and Kris.
Derek, thank's very much to speack in french for me ! You know...i in a few times, sure I take classes of English :)
Thank's Lisa. I don't know I had an " ability to move the viewer's eye around the painting ".:)
And thank's Jean.
Thank's Pastel 65...I think that my " color choices " are very instinctive.

Hello Nemon. I work on Canson MT, on smooth face.
I use always Rembrandts. And Schmincke and Sennelier.

Absolutely love the water. I am not sure if your photo is inaccurate but if not...I think your tree needs to be darker since if looks like you have light coming from the back. Almost the same value as the bottom part of the water.
This will make the painting more realistic and the contrast always makes a painting 'pop'.

well done.

Thank's Woodenpalette.
I don't have a good camera to take pictures. It's true: that tree is much darker on the photo. But I also try never copy the photo. It's not the goal. In reality the tree is not black ... I love the colors "pop", but I'm also a lover of impressionist painting ...:)
