I was in a strange, funky mood tonight so I decided to "throw caution to the wind" and use just any old colors I felt like. Hope it's not too loud....

I second use more "funky" colors. This has a presence about it. Very nice.

Randy: Some famous artists have said that if your values are right use any color you want (within reason I guess).
It has certainly worked for you in this great landscape.

Funk and Strange, yes!

This is beautiful Randy, and no not too loud at all!

I once threw my caution to the wind but it boomeranged and hit me in the face.

Great job Randy. Such movement for me in this piece, don't know if that's because of the wonderful colours you've used or the funky mood you were in but it definately works!

Wow Randy, I like it! The varying colors really add a lot of punch to the painting. The rock in the shade of the tree is beautiful, and the cool greens in the mid-ground really accentuate the warm colors of the tree. Nice value control, great color. What's not to like!

Thanks so much, everyone! I'm trying to enjoy the colors we have left here in So. Cal before the summer "dry-up".

hello
if ' loud ' means more saturation/value/contrast on the poi ( point of interest ) ,
well ,
yes .
- and it works great . :D

if this were my creation it would be up on the wall to look at from time to time for ideas/adjustments ...

the b/g hill against the foliage has a terrific sense of depth !

Harley says you can use any colors as long as you keep them relevant. You did and it is a beauty

Wonderful color. Your tree is a focal area with gorgeous shapes tumbling over each other, looks all full and leafy. Great atmospheric perspective. Lots of color but it's all harmonious, it draws me into that fantastic colorful pastels-world where my mind's at ease. A real beauty of a landscape. Love it.

not a bit loud, but I really, really want to watch you do a tree! Just spectacular, if I could paint a tree like that I might break down and do a landscape!
