View Full Version : Floral effort by a newbie.

Hello again
Went to Battle in Sussex today, and the flowers there have got me set off on a piece with a collection of blooms together.
When I say piece, I mean ...more of a jumble together and see what happens as I have only just started. My last drawing was back in the 80's.

Welcome back to art! I also took a long break from art, 1970's until about 2 years ago. I like your water color, a good job after such a long break. Sandi

Thank you. I'm a bit cross at myself for not having kept an interest up, but that's life for a lot of people.

Popped some salt on it & have called it an evening, see what my brain decides to stick in the background tomorrow !

Congratulations on getting back to art.
Sometimes simplicity works better than complexity.

Welcome back to watercolor! I agree with Doug - try and keep it simple. When you remove the salt, it should give you some nice effects.

Good for you starting up again...I did the same thing, put my art stuff away for about 15 years and then was mad at myself for doing it when I started up again.
You've got it going now though, so keep playing with your paints and exploring. Check out the Learning Demos and the classes (link at the top of the Learning Zone or Doug's and my signature lines) for more ideas of things to try out.
PS: Looks like you might have dropped the salt on when the paint was a bit too wet. It will be interesting to see what happens when you brush it off.

Welcome back to the world of paint magic. I love the first effort because you have the essence all there, don't need lots of detail if the structure is there. I have just released a "Fabulous Flowers ebook you may be interested in Ev Hales "Fabulous Flowers" .
Enjoy the journey now you have taken the first steps again.
