Hello OP friends! This is one I finished a few months back, but am (almost) sure I didn't share here!

This is for a correspondence course in animal portraiture. I've done assignments in graphite, coloured pencil, acrylic and soft pastel too, but feel more at home with oil pastel than any of those media. I've been told I'm welcome to work in OPs for exercises where a specific medium isn't stipulated - even though technically the course doesn't cover them.

I think I took the ref photo from the Wet Canvas Reference Image Library. The painting is 9" x 12.5" in Sennelier and Caran d'Ache on Art Spectrum Colourfix.

Someone has expressed an interest in commissioning me to paint two horses. If I do, I suspect oil pastel will be my medium of choice!

Fantastic piece of art E-J! Beautiful work on creating a healthy shine to the horses coat, great work on this mane with colors and texture and I love the deep colors you achieved on his coat. Real nice bone and muscle structure as well.

This is so well done - congratulations on your commissions! Oil Pastels seem perfect for a horse portraiture.
