Since Patty posted her "Henry" painting, I thought it would be nice to post our paintings we have collected whether they be Wet Canvas artists or others. I think it is interesting to see what artists collect!!
Here is my "ONA" painting "Window to the Soul". I wanted it for 4 yrs and finally bought it for a BD gift to myself 2 yrs ago. I also have this lovely painting by our own Doug Elliott.

Over the years I have amassed a large collection of paintings by wetcanvas members, and every one brings back happy memories. This is but a few of them:

Don't have any WC members paintings, Reggie. Do have a couple of prints and 30+ postcard size paintings from a project here we did several years ago that I enjoy looking at now and then though.
Lovely paintings by Ona and Doug in your house. :D
What a beautiful wall of paintings, Doug.

WOW Doug, What a collection! Is the blue flowers one a Nick Simmons?
Thanks Sylvia! this isn't limited to WC so if you have other paintings , you can post them.

The morning Glories are a print from CharM. They are all gifts or swaps.

That is great Doug! I love the painting you gave me!! Hey, by the way , a while back you mentioned that we could do a skype type thing with our ipads or iPhone. I don't have the new iPAd but have an Iphone and have done Face to Face . It works well. The only thing is it may cost to call me as I have a regular phone number and not an email. Do you know how that works?
04-21-2013, 01:23 PM
Reggie, Skype video calls are done over the internet and don't generate phone bills. It helps to have a good broadband connection.
With the iPad or iPhone you can use the Apple Facetime facility, again over the internet.

Wow Reggie and Doug, you both have some awesome paintings in your collection!!
Here is my collection from WC members: I probably have more that aren't framed. I am very thankful to own each and every one of these paintings!
My most recent is a Henry Robertson (Flattwo)
Chris Earle (Mr. Sandbanx)
Brian Saul (Maltman)
Hugh Reid (Taghera)

Interesting idea for a thread!
Here's mine. They are small. They are Art Cards that I collected from eBay mostly.
My criteria was something I liked in different mediums, originals only, not made by me, and around $10-$20.
They are above my painting table for inspiration!
It reminds me to try new things. :)
A label in the corner says what media it is.
watercolour, acrylic, oils, pastel, pen and ink on birch bark, collage, beeswax, wc pencils, coloured pencil, sumi ink, photo, woodburning, clay on real glass, stitching on fabric, and gold leafing.
And since this is a WC forum, I have a closeup of my favorite watercolour one.
I still have some empty spots...and no examples of gouache. Luckily, WC member Deb Seccour sells these! I'm waiting for the right one...lol!

Cool display Dragoon!! I used to paint the ACEO cards and sell them on Ebay also, but haven't for quite awhile.

Patty, that is quite an impressive collection!!! We certainly have a tremendous amount of really talented artists in WC!!
Dragoon- I love the way you have the ACEOs displayed!! They look great! What a nicely organized studio you have!
Remember folks-- these can be paintings by other artists than WC, any painting collection you have, Please note which are from WC.

This is a wonderful idea! I have only one painting from a WetCanvas member. The rest are paintings by friends, family and/or gifts which give me lots of inspiration.

Colonel Bunn by Tasha Tudor
La Navidad by Amando M. Pena Jr.
Oil Painting of my Grandfather B. by my cousin Donna B.
Horse sketches by my friend Courtney Reeder

I buy and collect paintings from other artists all the time and they are gradually taking over all the space on my walls and my own paintings have been coming down to be replaced by them. However, I have too many to post on here. I must have about 30 of them right now. They come in all sizes from miniatures to my largest which is an oil painting about 20 x 30". They also include just about every style from photo realistic to abstract, and every medium including oil, acrylic, serigraphs, pastels, pen and ink, and watercolours. The only thing they have in common is that I love them and will love looking at them daily for years to come.

We have a number of oil paintings that we bought when we were stationed in Germany from a young artist who would come to our housing unit and hold an art show of different artists periodically. Here are some of them.
This is an abstract watercolor with collage elements that I won in a drawing here in Dayton the first time we were living here in the 1980s. I think it was one of the things that made me decide to try painting with watercolors. It is by an artist named Alix Thayer.
We also have prints of art work on our walls.
This is a numbered and artist signed work by Jacques Lalande that we thought was charming and whimsical.
And these are my prints of paintings by my cyber friends at Wet Canvas:
Ona from her Pear-ot story line
Char and Doug's prints:

Ellen- If you have time can you post a few of yours! We'd love to see them!
Sylvia- your's are beautiful! Of the oils I especially like the 1st! Of course I love Char's and Doug's!
Thanks for posting!

I just came across this thread. I was surprised there are not more posts. An art teaching mentor of mine said owning original was important as a pedagogical aid. Having a nice work that demonstrates quality composition, values, brushwork, color handling, etc. was a great tutorial as well as inspiration. I was fortunate to visit some well known artist in Taos several years back and recall vividly how they had amassed amazing collections of other artist paintings, both contemporary and deceased. They all agreed to the benefit. And while art can be expensive, it doesn't always have to be. I will post some pics of art in my collection shortly.

MY "collection" is scattered through my house but includes work by friends and teachers (and me myself) plus the one piece I was able to pry out of my mother - not one of her best but with good memories associated! And some things I inherited.

I just had to post my very, very special painting from my friend, Kathleen Alexander!! She was giving a Workshop and she wanted the little ACEO of a fish that I had painted. She told me that one day she would send me her ACEO, too. A couple of years passed by and one day. . .it CAME!! I really treasure it!!
This is very Hawaiian because she is in California for 6 months and in Hawaii for 6 months teaching classes! If you ever get the chance to be in her Workshops, you will find the sweetest lady that is very prepared!!
If you do not know her work, you must look her up for she is now an International Watercolorist!
