A small gallery run by a very active church in our area is having a Show of paintings this month that features many of the artists who are in art classes with me. My DH and I stopped by to see it yesterday and I took photos that I thought you might enjoy seeing.
Most of the work is in watercolors, but there are some oils and acrylics and one great photo of a white squirrel that we have around here plus some hooked rug pieces.
Walk around the room with me. :D
My two paintings are ones you've seen here.
More in next window.

These two little paintings on easels show that you don't have to be LARGE to be impressive.
This corner had the oils and acrylics.
These are the hooked pieces. This artist's son draws the images she uses, she dyes all the wools for each work, and does the hooked work. She's won numerous awards for her unique art.
This group has the photo of the white squirrel. They are so much fun to see now and then, the population of them isn't very large, but this photographer captured a beautiful image, especially with that furled tail.
Hope you enjoyed visiting the art show with me. :D

Always fun and informative to see hung paintings, Sylvia. While I like to look at the artwork, I also enjoy seeing how painters approach framing their work--so looking at framed paintings is a double pleasure.
Thanks for the tour, Sylvia!

What a lovely collection of art and nice variety too. I think all the paintings are super and that photo of the white squirrel is very nice. I know I'm just a little biased but I think the watercolors are the best work though. ;) Thanks for this walk through of the show!

Very nice show, Sylvia, encouraging to see such community support for the arts. We live in a good area for that too, a local church has ongoing shows that one can apply for.

A very talented group of artists, I enjoyed the show.
I see that the framed paintings all have white mats without the coloured matts along the inner edge. Is that a new style now?

You have a very talented group, Sylvia. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your kind comments about the show. :D
I usually have a colored inner liner on my paintings as do several others. Sometimes people reuse their mats and frames, so a double white or cream mat makes that easier to do without clashing with the painting, and some shows require it as well. :D

I never thought about it that way...if deciding to reuse mats for another painting. Good idea.

Sylvia--I enjoyed the online show very much. I'm so sorry I missed it--I could have stopped by last week when I had an appointment at Lincoln Park medical building. Anyway, I'm so proud of all of you. Good show!
