Did this in class and it's okay but not my favorite. I volunteer at a nursing home and one of the woman wanted a fall scene. This was from a picture I took in Maine. I realize after looking at photo I want to tone down the gold. All comments and suggestions appreciated. Should I add ducks, row boat turned over or leave as is? Its 8 X 10 on wallis with soft pastels. Thanks Pam

That's nice, Pam. Now, what do you want to say with it? What caught your fancy with the scene?
I don't think you need to tone down any golds. I'd say you need to tone down some strokes, though. What I mean is that across the water, at that distance, we wouldn't see individual leaves, or too crisp clumps of leaves. Look at the far left where the strokes are much blurrier, that works really fine! I think you could simply take your finger and very lightly blend in the reds and golds, and they would sit there much more comfortably.
Great reflections, they are just enough and very believable!
