View Full Version : Sketchcrawl #39 - NYC

Today was the Worldwide Sketchcrawl #39. I met up with the NYC Urban Sketchers for the day. We started out at Bethesda Fountain in Central Park. I sketched the fountain area and then part of the staircase coming down to the fountain area.

Off we went to lunch and most of us sketched someone/something at the table. I sketched Richard who is one of the organizers of our group.

Then we moved over to the Lincoln Center area. We passed a market down the street from Lincoln Center and I liked the looks of the Wafle Truck. Next we met more of the afternoon group in front of Lincoln Center. They were sitting in front of the fountain that changes heights and sort of dances. While I was sketching them the security guard went over to warn them that the fountain would soon get really high and splash all over them...so they got up. And the guard was right!

By this time we were cold and found a cafe indoors that had a view out to the Lincoln Center plaza. I sketched Mia who was sketching the view and then sketched two of the other sketchers.
I also took a few photos of the group. We ended up with about 27 people taking part this time, which was a great turnout.

What a great day you had. I particularly love that you've sketched your fellow sketchers. Such a good memory jogger and not bad drawings either!! :)

Marita - Thank you. It is fun to sketch with a lot of people and great to look at everything that was created during the day.
Debby - Thanks. I'm glad there was a good turnout. NYC usually doesn't get a big crowd.

looks like you had a super day, your sketches are delightful, so fun to sketch in a group. I'm having a plein air day in the garden for our art group tomorrow, first one of the season, maybe I'll suggest a sketch crawl to them, looks like fun...

Hey Joan T, like your people sketches!
(I'm really slow with watercolor. . . trying to do more cafe stuff like you're doing with it.)
Have to keep peeking in for motivation!
