Oh, now that is where I want to be. Wonderfully inviting. I really like this painting. Well done indeed.
Love it! The rocks are very well done. I can almost feel the moss. I like the contrast of the delicate light leaves against the darkness and weight of the forest.

I apologize for my tardy response. My PC came down with a severe case of dementia (loss of memory) and I had to change my email and password, causing those same gremlins that Maureen mentioned to keep me from posting until I was "verified" again.
Thank you all, my fellow artists, for the replies and kind words. It's very nice to have such positive support.
Bill: what a lovely background for that super tree. It all comes together beautifully.

Really beautiful painting. Very 'Pacific Northwest' eh? When I am out in the forest I am often struck by those shards of sunlight that make it down almost all the way to the forest floor and hit some smaller plant down at eye level or ground level and bring it to life. This painting captures that brilliantly.

Thank you, bhavani, Jiemin, and JB.
Colin, thanks for your comment, and as a Pacific Northwesterner you'll recognize that bright tree as a vine maple (Acer cercinatum), one of my favorite trees of the understory. In the fall they light up the dimness below the big conifers with their bright fall color on leaves that are paper thin. Their struggle to collect sunlight makes them slender and delicate; vine-like.
