The original thread is here. (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1208502)
Just finished this painting of an Olds 88 that is a favorite at all the local cruise nights around here. Since this painting is acrylic on metal, I still need to have a clear coat applied. I was also thinking a medium blue pinstripe to border the image and possibly gold leaf. Here it is before the clear.
Thanks for taking a look!

Great rendering. Chrome particularly spot-on.

Thanks everyone! I have had two family reunions the past week and a 50th anniversary party for my parents so it was a surprise that this one even got done. Fortunately, I have the frame for it already to go so things should come together pretty quickly once it comes back. Hopefully sometime next week.
This is a better shot to show the scale of this one.

Amazing how you have painted it so realistically on such a small panel! Excellent work, Steven!

Another rare beauty. Your precise handling of the subject on such a small surface confounds me.

Here's another voice to the "Wow, I can't believe you managed to pull this off on such a small scale" chorus. Excellent work.

The only thing that comes to mind is...."WOW!!"
Wow: Great job. Is that aluminum you painted on? Do your eyes still hurt? At my age they would.

Thanks everyone, it really means the world to me coming from you guys.
Derek, I do these paintings on small plates of titanium.
I read an Italian description once describing miniature artwork in general as 'piccolo tesoro' or little treasure. When I read that, it changed the way that I was thinking about my paintings. I was using Ampersand board which is fantastic but decided that it would add to the overall impact of the piece to use something more unique. The paint I am using is essentially a water based automotive paint anyway so making the transition to a metal substrate was seamless.

Loved it when I thought it was a large piece, even more impressive in its real size.
