I decided on the orchid in the window. Loved all the muted colours in the glass. I first straightened out the lines of the window. Then I cropped the image. Decided agains the shells but then thought it was too empty so put in a fallen flower. Acrylics on canvas, 8x8", took 2 hours. C&C welcome!

Oh that is gorgeous Connie - the red pot is a brilliant addition.
Love the colours throughout but also the simplicity of shape - really lovely, thank you.:)
Glad you straightened the window up - that's the result of trying to take this with the tablet instead of the camera!:o

I agree , well balance of warm and cool colors ,but the way you use black is awesome and a great style. I think Kate has the title Fallen Pedal

You know your composition and design so well! The red spot on the pot sets it off, a dramatic crop and expertly painted still life floral. Love it, Connie!

I love your interpretation of the ref photo!
What I really love most in this painting is the reflection of the window on the left wall - wow! In my opinion, it's an important part here.

Connie,

I'm never disappointed opening your work, no matter the subject.

Red on green is clever; the soft yellow in the orchid against violet is just as clever; and the painting flows naturally--a movement that we expect as the eye travels up and down an orchid.

The red in the reflection on the right is very engaging. Love the colors of the glass and the petal in place of the shells. Lovely.
