Robins are so adorable and when you see them hopping around Spring can't be far away. Lovely vibrant painting Ruthie.

Beautiful painting !

Thanks everyone! I added the nest as an afterthought really. Thought it would be better than the post the Robin was perching on in the ref. still not sure whether Robin's eggs are blue though. Must google it.
Just googled. Yes, they are blue...turquoise in fact. Funny, that's the colour I started them off with, but thought it was a little bright.....

Nice and warm painting. Still no spring here in Holland. Freezing Cold!

Oh yes! Spring has arrived! beautiful painting Ruthie! Robins eggs are turquoise, they are so beautiful you could do a painting of just the eggs. I especially love the glow you gotten. you are inspiring me to paint a bird!

the ' eggs ' have very rough edges - hard to understand ,
and the reflected colours looks pushed cold on my screen .
your palette is smart , and the touch/textures show the best of pastel

Thanks for this, Ruthie. A beautifully painted bird soaking up the sunshine is just what I needed to see! I noticed those strokes of blue too - just perfect for making the warm colors glow.

Thank you Pat. It's freezing cold here too, with a wind from the East. But at least we've had sunshine the last two days. :)
Thanks Chris! I'm going to make the eggs a touch turquoise. looking forward to seeing a bird portrait from you
Ed, thank you for your comments. Well, I don't want to overly detail the eggs and I believe they read as eggs. it's not the twigs of the nest partly covering them which bothers you is it?
Thanks Donna! I did wonder about the blue but quite liked it so it got to stay!
Derek, Thank ye guid Laddie!
Thank you artsask and kayek!

Ruthie, he/she/it is showing oodles of personality and I love the way you have handled the plumage in such a tiddly painting. Not easy to work so small in pastels.
Sorry not to comment sooner, but I've been reorgainising all my art supplies for two days - now I can't find where I put things.

Thanks Dale! I do hope you manage to find things........

Interesting choice of colors Ruthie...well done!!

The colors and loose strokes are what make this so interesting... Never noticed the eggs... only the bird's beautiful chest colors. Barb
