Another small 8 x 10 landscape of a farm land area. http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/30-Mar-2013/159648-dgphelps_lonesome_shed600.jpg

The shadow in front of the shed is cast from another building on of view. therefore, no shadows from the fence posts, but this bothers me and I'm not sure what to do. any suggestions?

If it were mine, I would just change the time of day and make the light come from the right. Then all the shadows would make sense.

I like your road, fence and grass, but your shed just doesn't work. It almost looks like it is floating and it has nothing of interest in it. Your sky looks flat and needs some color change towards the horizon. It is usually lighter and maybe a touch of alizeron crimson. As far as composition, everthing turns to the left and takes you eye off of the picture. You need something on the right for balance and draw the eye back into the picture. You might also play with the clouds a bit and give them some form and color.

Aye, the path is leading you out of the picture, and the shed would be more interesting if it were turned slightly sideways rather than straight on as it is.

okay, so what if ...
-the road in front of the shed got really thin, alluding more to an 's' curve
-the shed had some age to it - a hole, a crack, some grasses overlapping it
-there was a chicken on the road
-the shadow issue doesn't bug me, but you could always add another (out of pic) building or large tree and cast another shadow (long) and across the foreground through the fence.

it's nice, it's pleasant, it's fairly too perfect and i want to ruffle it's hair, so to speak
