I did this one 6 months ago but had to put it aside as I struggled with the water. I've recently gone back to it and fiddled a bit with the water to try and make it more convincing. Do you think it looks ok? If not, can you make any suggestions on how to improve it? I'd be grateful for any advice.

16"x12" on Canson Tex with mostly Senneliers.

This is lovely and glowing! The water is really well done so it was worth tweaking.

Looks great. Maybe you can share how you got the beautiful yellow to blend with the blue without getting any green. Thanks Pam

I think the water looks fine, very believable. My only crit would be the horizon line, it looks a bit crooked. It might be the way you took the picture, but if it's not I know it's an easy fix. Nice job!

Wow, the water is gorgeous! The one thing I find distracting is the leaves of closest tree - they don't seem to fit in with the rest of the painting, but that would be my only critique :) It really is a wonderful piece.

Phew - the water's ok. Thank you Jen, Ruthie, Dedrian, Derek, Toniov and Mado for your vote of confidence.

Pam, I lifted most of the blue pastel off where I did the yellow ripples to maintain the brightness of the yellow.
Chris you are right about the horizon - it's a bit sloppy but easily fixed.
Thanks Sharon for your observation. I may adjust it a bit to make it more believable.

Thank you for the information on getting the bright yellow. While pastels are easy to fix I seem to also find them easy to mess up. Practice, practice....pam

I see you were more concerned about the water, but its the foliage that really grabs me. love how you rendered that. its a very nice painting
