Hi there everyone. This is my only pet painting. This picture is from image library. I am doing some warm up for my kitty's painting. :) C&C are always welcome.

30by20cm pastel on Fisher400 sanded paper with mostly hard pastels.

Wow, this gorgeous! I just love the sense of light and the way you've done the fur!
Yes, it's still a portrait!

Wow! If this is a warm up, I can't wait to see the next painting. You did a great job on this. I believe it is the subject that dictates whether it is a landscape or a portrait. You can have a landscape painting in a portrait format, so here I would say you have a pet portrait painting in a landscape format.

Wonderful. I do portraits of my dog all the time - he is a Westie - two pink ears, two black eyes, black nose and tons of white hair and I'm done. His face ends up on pumpkins, xmas decorations, etc. Requires very little compared to this beautiful painting with such great detail and colors.

Wonderful! As the others said, light and gaze are very fine.

A painting of a landscape is a Landscape, be it horizontal or vertical in format.
A painting of portrait is a Portrait, be it horizontal or vertical in format.

Paper/canvas comes in Landscape Format, or Portrait Format, or Square Format. (Oval, and Round Formats too.)

It is confusing for us non-english speakers.
