A disaster for me, I use Google Reader to monitor all new threads on wetcanvas. New Posts just doesn't do that.

I have installed Feedly but it isn't a patch on Reader. I hope Google change their mind :crossfingers:

I just signed the petition "Google: Please Don't Kill Google Reader!" on Change.org.

It's important. Will you sign it too? Here's the link:

Thanks!

People are hopping mad at the news. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=A25VgNZDQ08)

Doug, I don't use Reader so it's not a big deal for me. But I signed the petition because you asked... :)

Thanks Char.

How do you think I keep tabs on the dozens of forums on wetcanvas throughout the day? I am subscribed to the wetcanvas RSS feed in Google Reader.

This lets me see the title, poster and a few lines of every new thread on wetcanvas. I can see at a glance if a spam bot is at work posting several threads in multiple forums and take immediate action. I can also see if anyone posts requiring help in any of the forums I don't usually frequent. I can also spot new threads in other forums which might be of interest.

I don't see how I can operate efficiently without a replacement.

Done.

I do use Google reader, I love it. It lets me see updates of any blog/website I am following at a glance. Saves a heck of a lot of time, and I don't miss anything.. :)

IF, they do shut it down, there are alternatives, albeit not so good Look HERE. (http://email.about.com/od/rssreaderswin/tp/top_rss_windows.htm). and HERE (http://www.feedreader.com/)

Thanks folks, don't know whether the petition will work but it's worth a try. This is how I monitor wetcanvas forums. The bottom subscription shows all new posts on the whole forum.

Hi Doug and all of you who use Google Reader

I have never used it , to my knowledge, but signed it anyways because it appears to be important to you.

Cheers,

Gail

Too bad. I only started using Google Reader a couple of weeks ago. I already switched over to Feedly. I don't like the layout as much as Google Reader, but I figure I'll be used to it by July.

Edit - I signed the petition, too.

I swapped Feedly for newsblur, the layout in newsblur is similar to Reader, a list of your subscriptions on the left and options for how to diplay the feed on the right. I liked it so much I subscribed.
