I guess there's no denying it, I'm every inch a landscape painter. Especially after Ken explained that an artist needs good drawing skills and an in-depth understanding of light and of facial structure to paint portraits well! ;) Plus, I swear I felt my heart leap and go :music: AH! :music: when I saw these landscape paintings.

Change of Season has such beautiful colors and great immediate impact, but I think my favorite is the 2nd painting. I love the light glancing off the frosted plants and trees, which created an opportunity to introduce warm color on the fringes of that light. The sky looks so frosty! And I love the background mountains. A perfect representation in my mind. I wish I could get that same effect!

I'll be there Saturday for the paint-along  (or is it pant-along, just trying to keep up with Joe?)

Oh wait! And I love the light hitting those evergreens in the first painting, how they have those warms in them...

Love all the painting, Joe, but at first glance is the Change of season the winner! See you tomorrow!

Just purchased "Paint Stunning Landscapes from Photos with Johannes Vloothuis" from North light site and watched the first video. WOW-I love it already! I am looking at some of my older paintings and seeing the problems already. When I go outside now my mind is seeing things so differently! Thank you!

Gorgeous paintings, Jo...love the luscious colors of Change of Season! The light just dances throughout your winter scenes. They're so beautifully rendered - thanks for sharing!

I simply love the way you have handled the low sunlight on your first snow scene - just warms it enough to wish you were there. And of course the others are great too - a pleasure to behold. Thanks again Jo for another really formative and enjoyable class.

Joh, I love all of these but Passing Storm's colors, depth and trees are just perfect! Foggy Day has wonderful moodiness and Misty Waterfall, I can hear the falling water. Thank you for posting your newest and greatest; you inspire us all to keep on painting....
