Morning all,

Blue ears about??

Looked in a couple of hours ago but thought it too early.

Thick fog outside and planning to go to golf later hopefully it will have lifted

Doug, will reply to PM later.

My blue ears are flapping around my head, Geoff.

Still recovering from the weekend. Still haven't downloaded photos.

Still avoiding Roger because he has a nasty cold. Got it last week. Glad I was away for the worst. I'm no good with man flu, plague, Ebola virus or what ever else he thinks he has. He gets really cross when I say you have a COMMON cold.

Sniffy drippy and coughy. Still a cold my man. And common.

BBL slightly damp cats have come in from the rain shower and are panting on their sides trying to look thin, then they have to breath and it is wonderful watching them puff up like souffles.

A bit like me. Lyn you are so right about the mass increase with time. happens to us all.

Rogers sense of smell is off so I may use some Parmesan cheese in whatever I have planned for tonight for dinner.

As the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band said, in the canyons of your mind ....

Got the complete set of CDs BTW:eek:

Good morning Geoff and all to follow.

It's a c-c-cold morning here after a clear night. A little misty but no fog.

Ruth is planning a trip to Southport after physio to get new slipper-boots.

Apart from that no plans. Still awaiting my new modem. The switch-over to my new ISP is scheduled for tomorrow so I may disappear if the modem doesn't arrive

May be able to borrow next doors though, they are very co-operative.

PS wetcanvas is taking ages to load :crossfingers:

 morning all,
Sun shows itself through clouds and the cold is vanishing.
Get to work anyway, hope you all are fine and healthy

03-05-2013, 04:22 AM
Hi Doris, sorry you are getting eye strain.

Lots of red heads here. I was more auburn than ginger.

03-05-2013, 04:24 AM
Good morning washers,

I haven't been here for a few days - eyestrain, trying to back off all reading - and just started to catch up. What wonderful photos of all of you. Aren't we a good-looking bunch?

Gonna go rest my eyes now, after all this reading, and will try to find an old photo of myself, in all my original curly, red-haired glory.

03-05-2013, 04:34 AM
Mornin' each ......

Haven't tried to log in for a few days as I kept getting the info that my IP address was banned, didn't want to go through all that again. Anyway I'm back now ...........

Took Toby for his cut yesterday he is at his cutest when he needs cutting and looks a little more stern when he returns to see what I mean here are the before and after shots .......

....... and after ......

He looks pained this morning because I can't take him for his walk as I'm back on crutches only another 4 weeks to go .......... :crossfingers:

Art group today and I'm doing a class/demonstration ......... I'm doing a Posterize portrait, thanks Char for the wonderful thread you did a few years ago. Last week I ask the group if any of them wanted to be the model, but no one volunteered so I used a photo of a cricketer, Ian Botham, from his auto-biography as the photo had all the bits I needed. Oh well wish me luck.:crossfingers:

See ya all later.

 everyone,
I didn't get on here yesterday, life got in the way. I did get some painting done but that was the only thing that was planned that I actually accomplished.

I have loved seeing the old photos. It is fun to see the people we know now peeking out from younger faces.

Not a lot planned for today. More painting, a trip downtown for some errands, and maybe starting on the taxes (although I will use any excuse that comes along to put that off). :D

Char - congratulations to Matt stepping out on his own. At least he will be close to you and I'm sure you will see him often at meal times.

Kev - I like Toby's fluffy look better. :D I hope this time when you get off the crutches it is for good.

I need to get a bite of breakfast and get moving so I'll just say have a great day to all before and after and get off this chair before the morning is gone.

Happy Tuesday Washers,

It's very cold again and although the sun was peeking out on my drive into work it's since hidden behind dull grey clouds.

Doug, I see where your post posted before Doris's! That has been happening quite a bit lately...weird.

Doris I'm sorry about your eye strain. That is no good. I've been having such dry eyes lately. I'm on a water pill so that contributes to it but the air here at work is SO DRY; everyone complains about it. We'd love to see a pic of you earlier in life!

Doug, I hope your trip to Southport goes well and Ruth can find just what she's looking for. Hope your DSL isn't un-hooked for long.

Ellen, I don't blame you for putting tax stuff on hold....yucky.

Hello there Phillipe!

Geoff, I hope you can get a golf game in today and that the weather holds for you. You can cut the grass already? Wow...we still have snow on the ground here!

Annie, poor Roger....those common colds are awful. I had a good  at you using parmesan cheese in your dinner because he cannot smell.

Kev, aww how cute he is...I'm sorry your are on crutches once again and cannot take him out for a walk. No wonder he looks perturbed.:D

I did my walk on my treadmill last night; I need to get back at it. It seems like if something happens just one night then my whole schedule gets off. I feel better when I can walk those 2 miles a day.

Tonight Jen closes and since Matt is back to work(and working out of town) we'll have the girls including Klaira. What to make for dinner:confused: It's hard pleasing everyone.

I hope your day is blessed and that you will be able to accomplish something that you want to do.

Bless you all,

03-05-2013, 08:17 AM

Well could you ride side-saddle??

Afternoon all...

Fog went eventually on golf course, best round for months...then sun came out nice and warm, but coming home the mist has descended again.......and cold too.

Just off to post painting in Thirsk and perhaps cut the grass thereafter.

03-05-2013, 08:52 AM
Good morning! Lots of sunshine brightening up this coldish day... We're expecting warmer temperatures to begin thawing our area a little later in the week.

Matt returned home from his shift at the Residence, changed into his other uniform and is out the door to the Electronics department. He'll sure be tired by dinner time!

I finished Doug's Challenge yesterday in between Classes... I just had a bit of background to do, so it wasn't a big deal.

Two Classes today, so I can't stay to visit too long... I have some stuff that I need to get set up.

Geoff, don't you love walking through the fog? It seems so mysterious...

Annie... Three sons and one husband will attest that there is nothing common about their colds! Roger is in good company...

Doug... I fear that WC will never be stable again! I hope your modem shows up! Seems you have e.s.p. answering Doris before she posted!

Hi Philippe! The sunshine just makes you feel cheerier, eh?

Doris, I hope your eye strain settles down after you've rested your eyes awhile... ((()))

Awh... Toby's a cutie no matter the cut... :crossfingers: that you'll be able to burn those crutches soon, Kev! Posterizing is so much fun... Your Class is going to love it!

Ellen, just the thought of doing the taxes is awful... :( Happy painting today... I'll peek into your easel later on...

Hi Darla... spaghetti feeds a crowd and kids usually love it... :)

Geoff! That's our newest feral! I'm so glad you adopted him. :p Someone told me the other day to photograph him and put his picture up on Facebook so we can find a home for him... glad you had a great golf game!

I must shut down the computer and get something productive done... I hope your day is the very best possible!

03-05-2013, 09:39 AM
Hi! just a quick visit, piles of stuff waiting for me to do.....just wanted to say how much I've enjoyed all the photos. I like Ellen's phrase, 'people we know now peeking out from younger faces' So many red heads...my mum was one, too, I always wanted her hair. Now is there something about artists and red hair???

Thanks for the comments about the costume, it was a fun evening.

Loved the Murphy bed, Judy. Wasn't there a great movie with Jack Lemmon and a Murphy bed?

Sweet pup, Kev!

Must get busy, BBL

:grouphug:  :grouphug:

Edit: Also, about quinoa, it has a husk on the seed which is high in saponin, which gives it that taste and smell. The husk has to be removed. I purchased cleaned seed from a local specialist supplier who does that (remember JJ?) and I can eat it fine. But the flour I bought elsewhere seems to be uncleaned, and I can't tolerate anything made from it, indigestion from the saponin, I guess. And quinoa from our local bulk barn has to be cleaned, too, I guess they buy in cheaper bulk. Some references say you can do that by washing and rubbing thoroughly in cold water.

03-05-2013, 10:07 AM
That's probably the healthy part that has to be removed.

Back in a bit.

I needed to move to the larger box.

No plans for today except work and the market (ICK). I might make a cheese danish later.

sunny and 73 with storms later.

74 Used to be a blonde http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/05-Mar-2013/385681-PD_0003.JPG By the time I was 6 it was dark brown. By my teens I was going grey. In college you could crab a handful of LONG wavy, thick hair and see auburn, grey, black and brown. Then after I had the Boy, all the brown and red vanished, and I'm left with salt and pepper....starting to run a little heavy on the salt! LOL.

03-05-2013, 10:11 AM
Good Morning Everyone!!

Another day of below seasonal temperature and once again, gray in gray. Hopefully somebody's sun reaches out to us later on.

I had no plans for today until I heard on the news that the NEW and first Target store in Canada is opening in our fair city today. This has been in the making for over a year so I have to go and see, of course.

Our Target store was actually the one where all the training for all other future Canadain Target stores was taking place.

Physio yesterday evening has helped some with the knee but it is not pain free.

What everyone else said about cute doggie, crutches, kitties, man colds, eyestrain, old photos :)

Darla, enjoy your grands today!!

Char, I checked the March challenge, yours is not there yet:confused:  :D

LOL Caryl, so true, and your tulips are truly MAGNIFICENT!!!!

BBL  Uschi

03-05-2013, 10:30 AM
Targ~et? opening day?! Craziness!

03-05-2013, 11:15 AM
Geoff....we loved the picture of the cat with his horse!

We got the bed installed and have ordered a mattress (temperpedic type) for it. Just right we will not have to adjust the storage shelf bit since the mattress is not that deep. :smug: I expect that Spencer will be anxious to give it a try once the mattress is installed.

Kids come and went, on their bikes, they may need a ride tomorrow if the rain that is expected happens, :crossfingers: we need the wet stuff.

03-05-2013, 11:28 AM
Very cute Caryl!!!

Isn't it interesting how many children have blond hair and most of them turn dark at some point. I wonder if anyone has researched this phenomena?

Housework done, so I think I'll set off to Target. The store is only a 5 minute drive from my house so if it is too busy I'll just come back home.

 Uschi

03-05-2013, 11:29 AM
Good Morning all,
It is 11:15 a.m. here in gray Oakwood...we're just waiting for the BIG snow storm to arrive that is heading our way from Indiana and parts West. They are predicting anywhere from 4"-7" where I live, 7" and much higher up where Anita lives. Hope this is the last burst of Winter weather we'll see this year.

I just finished doing my prep work on the veggies that will go in my red lentil soup later today: onions, garlic, tomatoes, carrots, celery, and spinach. Have the ham bone on to simmer right now so I can take the meat off the bone to add to the lentil soup later.

If you want a really healthy and tasty food, take a look at lentils. I checked them out this morning: 30% of their calories is from protein which includes essential amino acids; dietary fiber; folate; Vitamin B; minerals; and iron. Mixed with pasta or rice, it is a complete protein dish for people who don't eat meat as a source of protein. One other interesting fact I learned...the largest grower and exporter of lentils is....Canada! Our friends from the north. :D

I knew that about quinoa, so I washed it thoroughly three times in running water. That is what the source I read up on it said would do the trick. I still didn't like the smell or the taste. (I have a pretty sensitive nose, so others [like Larry] might not notice it the way I did. :o)

Kev, I think your little Toby is a handsome fellow in both guises. Have fun teaching the posterizing class today.

Char, Awwww, your little fledgling is flying the nest. He isn't going too far though, so I'm sure you'll be seeing him quite a bit.

Uschi, Are you taking any medication for the pain in the knee? When I had the problem with my back, the doctor told me Aleve would help...two pills a day until the inflammation went down in two weeks.

Caryl, Your hair color saga sounds like my son...he was a blonde as a toddler, then it darkened as he grew older to a brownish tone, now it is beginning to go gray. Cute photos. Are you getting rid of all the miscellaneous stuff you won't be taking to your new home yet?

Darla, I use TheraTears drops in my eyes when I wake up in the morning. It is amazing what a difference one little drop makes. That is the kind my eye doctor recommended. If you buy the kind that comes in little vials, you can put the stopper back in the top for use later.

I put my Orchid painting in the Gallery this morning. The link is in my signature line if you would like to take a peek. ;)

 to all who were here before me and to those still on their way.

03-05-2013, 11:40 AM
Uschi, sorry about the knee....the physios will sort you out! I hope it doesn't take too long, I know how frustrating that is, I can't dance right now because of my bad leg, so annoying. Do you think the treadmill aggravated yours? You do so many changes of direction with ping pong I would have thought your knees would be pretty strong.

Cute photos, Caryl, another young blondie! I think I'll be avoiding the quinoa in the future, too.

I like lentils, Sylvia, but they don't like me, unfortunately. I could take an enzyme mix, but hate taking supplements of that kind.

03-05-2013, 11:53 AM
Target on opening day?!?!!? Uschi you are a brave girl.

Awwwww Caryl. Cute. I have to admit I am not a natural redhead. WHAT! More like yours. Strawberry blonde until age 3 or 4 then golden brown with red highlights. Then starting gray at twenty. I think when you saw me JJ my hair was blonde. I think I've been every color under the sun except black, which a director wanted me to do for a show. But my boss when I was working at the salon once said (she did a lot of corrective color -- especially on actresses who'd had their hair murdered by some on set hairdresser), "Never let them dye your hair black! It's impossible to get out!" So I insisted on dying it dark brown, but he didn't like that. But I was not going to shave my head afterward.

Judy love the bed. I'm just afraid I would never put it back up. Lazy me.

Sylvia lots of single apartments in LA used to have Murphy-in-a-door beds, but they always took them out. Then there's this shallow recess in the wall that's not good for much. Before I took this apt. I looked at a really cool art deco single that used to have one. That single was probably larger than my one bedroom now. But it was only $50 dollars less a month than this one and didn't have a pool. :D

Geoff love the pic. And yesterdays. Not exactly surfing the internet, eh?

Char have fun with your classes today. I thought you were on hiatus with them. Or is it the one at the center?

(((Doris)))) hope your eye strain improves.

Psychic Doug knows all. It is so weird reading the posts out of order.

Quinoa doesn't bother me. I just don't like it mushy. So like Bill, I sauté it either before or after adding the water. And I don't like the 2 cups water to 1 cup grain ratio. That's okay for rice, but I think a little too much water for quinoa. It is an acquired taste.

Kev Toby's a cutie. I love his eyes in the after photo.

Annie love the image of the cats trying to look thin. Mine don't bother. They just whine and whine and whine until they wear me down. Ah -- peace and quiet now. Postprandial reposo.

Well must get the day started.

Edit: Sorry about your leg Lynn. Know how much you love to dance.

  to all and HAWLTAIN

03-05-2013, 11:58 AM
Have I mentioned that I  Google:D

Answers don't really mention why so many kids start off blond, but it did explain that the hair gene "opens" at different ages at which time kids' hair will turn dark. It seems naturally blond is a genetic mutation that happened around 11,000 years ago. Also, only about 2% of the world's population stays naturally light blond. Lulu, we are special:smug: I think you too Bill or is that blondish gray:evil: :)

I'm off!!

Edit: Sylvia, I did take an Aleve this morning and it sure helps.
Lynn, YES, such a nuisance, we try to stay fit:rolleyes:  Actually, I don't know how it is related but I moved the ice bolder the sidewalk snowplow put into my driveway and my back REALLY hurt after that, next thing it was my knee.

 Uschi

Hi to All

Its been a beautiful day here today, now clouding over

I had my first monthly injections this afternoon, it stung a bit, thick stuff, but the nurse was pretty :D

One of my Nephews (aged 11) who lives in Newcastle has been declared to be in the top 5 most intellegent students in England, the reward being fast tracked to a place in a top fee paying school, with my brother only having to pay 10% of the fees, it is definately in the Robertson genes :wink2:

Speak later

Hiya! It's lunch time and I had a little leftover gluten free pasta with my own tomato sauce (a small portion)... nice and warm on a cold day. We have lots of brilliant sunshine, so no complaints about the chill.

We didn't sketch this morning, so I began working on my tricycle painting. It's a lot of fun watching it emerge from the paper. I still haven't scanned my tulips, though.

No more old photos of me... but I have a few of the boys that are my all time favourite... they always make me smile...

Jon and Chris as toddlers:

Matthew holding "Matthew":

((Uschi)) I'm so sorry that your knee is really playing up... I'm kind of sad about the Target stores because with Zeller's closing our Canadian Heritage (The Hudson's Bay Company) is all but caput.

And ((Lynn)) I didn't realize that your leg was hurting so bad!

Caryl, your smile made me smile... :)

Judy, I love, love, love the Murphy bed!

Sylvia, thanks for reminding me about the lentils... I have some in my pantry and don't cook them often enough. Like you, I just can't find a recipe that I like for my quinoa. I washed it. I'll check out your orchid before my next Class.

Kay, when is your Web series going to begin filming?

In my next life, I'm coming back as a tall, willowy redhead with milk white skin and green eyes. I'll be able to sing and play musical instruments. I'll have a photographic memory. And, I'll marry a price. 'Nuff said...

Henry you Robertsons are not just pretty faces!

Gotta go... Have a great afternoon everyone!

03-05-2013, 12:55 PM
Sylvia.... no little things to get rid of.
Awwwww Char......such chubby wittle cheekies!

WINDY and the dewpoint has the creepy stormy prickly heat feeling to it.

Hopping off to work! Behave y'all!

Good Day All,
Weather is quiet here today. We are luckily missing the storm travelling through the Midwest and heading for the East Coast.

Fedex just delivered my four Gx. to add to my Mac. I'll take it into the store for them to install it for free on Thursday.

Uschi, I had blond hair for the first two or three years, then turned brown, then ash brown, then grey. It is in the process of turning very white. I like white.

Henry, Looks like you got the high IQ in your right brain and your nephew in the left brain. I'd rather have a good right brain. I have tested 50 50 so it figures why I'm confused so much of the time.

Geoff, here's a photo about 25 years old. These were precious kittens that we kept until they died of old age. I still miss them as I do all my cats.

03-05-2013, 01:19 PM
Bill, That photo is hilarious!

03-05-2013, 01:45 PM
Hi again, glad you approve of the bed, Kay, putting it back up is no problem, you don't have to put anything away, well perhaps making the bed, but it goes back up with one hand

Sylvia, I love lentils, but they are really high in potassium and Jack cannot have them :(

We are off to get new shower hardware for the rental and as it happens for us as well :smug:

03-05-2013, 03:14 PM
Like yesterday, the gray in gray turned into a lovely sunny day.

Target - the huge parking lot was crammed full with many cars circling and hoping, I was lucky. For sure, for once, Wallmart's parking lot will be half empty. The lineups for cash registers was looooooong. I couldn't think of anything I need and so bougth nothing.

Prices were pretty normal, one thing I found curious though, Roots own store sells my kind of sweatpants for around $ 65 and yet Roots sweatpants were selling for $ 25 at Target??????

The paper says that between 10 and 12 million dollars has been spent on each Zellers Store bought up and turned into a Target Store and you know, it really is barely different from the old Zellers:rolleyes:  I really can't understand what all the TRARA is all about. I missed Zellers and I WILL go to Target because it is so close whereas Wallmart is at the other end of the town.

Hi Kay, you had hidden on the first page when I last posted.

Bill,  that doesn't look like you but the kittens look similar to the two brothers we had.

Henry :crossfingers: :crossfingers: :crossfingers: that the shots do the trick! :grouphug:

Char, cute photos and Matt still looks lik that, his mouth - unmistakeabke:)

I am not going to try Quinoa:smug:

Time to sit in the sunshine pouring into my living room.

P.S. Forgot to mention that the Target bigwigs were asked if the prices were going to be the same as in the US and the answer was that they had to stay at a compatitive range with other canadian companies - meaning NO:rolleyes:

P.S.P.S. I just thought that people here will continue to go to the USA for cheap shopping weekends and where to you think they'll go - to Target where they'll get stuff by about a third cheaper:rolleyes:
 Uschi

03-05-2013, 03:47 PM
We had Canadians come over to our Target by the Charter bus full when we lived in Minot.

Henry - congrats to the Nephew!

03-05-2013, 08:58 PM
The snow has started to fall and is quickly turning everything white. Wonder how deep it is going to be in the morning.

Nighty nite all,

03-05-2013, 09:26 PM
.........will try to find an old photo of myself, in all my original curly, red-haired glory.Hugs

Kev, how did your demo go? Toby is cute either way..

Matt returned home from his shift at the Residence, changed into his other uniform and is out the door to the Electronics department. He'll sure be tired by dinner time!! I hope he rest well and eats well out on his own. He works very hard does that boy.. Very cute photos of your boys

Some references say you can do that by washing and rubbing thoroughly in cold water.Yes I do remember. The quinoa here hasn't been cleaned, so I had to wash it thoroughly to get the soapiness off it. I was reading that North America is very good about cleaning quinoa these days.
I do miss eating it, and I still have some in the pantry, just in case.

I am so sorry, Lynn, that your leg is giving you fits. Do you go to dancing to watch and maybe call?

Caryl, you sure were a cutie..

Uschi (((((HUGS))))) I wonder is your Target is the same as our Target. I used to love Zellers..

Coffee time...

Bill, that photo is priceless..
