So, this was my attempt at the bird, I used acrylic paint on an 8"x10" canvas panel. The end result wasn't quite what I had in mind as I envisioned and then sketched it out, but I was able to work on trying to make finer brush strokes and feel like I at least came away from it with more knowledge/experience even if I didn't enjoy the process as much as my other pieces.

Thanks for joining in Gimly! Anytime you can walk away knowly you learned new techniques or control of the medium, it's a Good Day! I think there are a lot of good things happening here; the pose and anatomy are pretty spot on, the colors are bold and the blocked color gives it a nice graphic look, and lastly   for your persistence! Keep at it! Many people could not have produced the painting YOU created.

I think you have done rather well. I tell myself that as long as I am learning, and having fun, I win. I think you came out a winner here.

I agree with Li. It does have lots of good things going on, and any time we increase our learning curve is good. Nice job!

I really like the graphic look of this Sam.
The shape, and the negative shapes, are good - makes for a lot of impact:)
If wanting finer strokes with acrylics, add water and layer the shape - build areas up in layers and you'll have finer shapes than using the thick paint.:)
