View Full Version : WDE 27 Feb Roses Valri style

Flowers are not generally my preferred subject matter but my friend Valri gave me a little hint on how to do them in a loose easy technique so I thought I would give it a go today.
This is very watery acrylic on canvas board with the white canvas left unpainted. I went back and washed out some of the paint before it dried and just threw in some darks and lights with a liner at the end. it took an hour and measures 12 x 16 inches.
Thanks for looking and all C and C is welcome.

Oh yes ! Looks like you've had fun here with all the stiffness of the phot gone, these blooms are alive. :)

This works well, Christine. It's lively and vigorous and you have managed to reproduce something of the rich colour of the flowers, which I always think is very difficult. Super.

This has the great look of a free flowing watercolor, Christine!
Many times I try to spot my fav area in my own paintings....The area with the blue flower about halfway up the left side is my Favorite section in this one!

I like how you put your creativity into this piece. Not afraid to blend detail and wash. Gives it a unique feel compared to a straight on approach. I feel the artist's presence here.
