View Full Version : Feb 22 WDE - Ice cream flowers - possibly MI later

Watercolor on Canson paper - about an hour and a half. They look like little ice cream cones to me. ;)

I usually find it quite difficult to mix this color(magenta or bright pink) in watercolor, it's very easy to end up with a dull color, it's easier in gouache - perhaps it's best to just buy a magenta WC pigment - do they make those?

I usually avoid flowers....they look fantastic but the colours are extremely difficult to reproduce. You've done a nice job here.

I often paint flowers but steered away from this delicate and difficult one!
You've done well with it though - nice!:)

Oh, these are lovely, and I luv the title. :D
Good work here Tangerine. Flowers are difficult to do. More than people think.
The more you paint them the better you get, You're well on your way with these.

I don't paint with watercolors, but I do think there is some in that color.
I'd check out Dick Blicks online they carry so many lines of watercolors. I know both Oils and Acrylics have Magentas.
Glad you joined in.

Ice cream, yes, or perhaps sorbet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sorbet)? :)

Started blocking this in last night - about 1.5 hours so far. Now the hard part, the detailing and adjusting the middle section(seems a bit narrow to me)! It may never get done!!

Great job on both! You captured the delicate look of the lizianthus and the second flower is looking very very good! Makes we want to throw away my brushes and say not worthy. Great job on both.
