View Full Version : Enamelling without distorting glass

Hello, I'm new to this forum.

I would like to ask a simple question about enamelling onto existing glass objects such as glasses, bottles etc.

I have used resin based faux enamels such as pebeo vitrea 160 which are set in the oven at 160C. I want to achieve a much tougher scratch resistant finish.

I have read that true enamels are glass particles with pigment that fuse to the object at high temperature. I have thought about buying a kiln. Does slumping occur before fusing in every case, making one step kiln setting impossible for prexisting glassware ?

I don't really want to resort to glass working outside a kiln, as I worry about my own safety and introducing internal stresses to a functional object.

I have seen videos of Coca Cola bottles being printed on YouTube, but the equiptment they are using looks at bit expensive :)

Thanks for any advice you can give.
