Good Morning all...

No blue ears then Annie!

Bright pink sky...looks strange and awful..........we know snow on way today.

One sets of visitors already up and ready for off shortly to beat the snow due in MIdlands en route to Southampton area........the others I will drop at station for their even longer journey to Exmouth........

Back later

Back again.

Chit chat and kissy stuff over. He has just frightened me opening his photo diffuser/reflector thingy he just bought. Small package and major expansion. Now he can't fold it. He can fold a bandsaw blade neatly and swiftly but this is jack in the box. Cats will be sleeping on it tomorrow I suspect

Accounts are nearly done. Can finish them off at work tomorrow with printable Internet access. Shall present the total mess to the accountant tomorrow. But that is done. Deadlines are GOOD.

Char, it is only a momentary trip to the dark side. Believe me.

Nipper and Beryl, I reckon that you should keep your view. Make use of the services offered and bend THEM to your needs.

Geoff, glad the funeral went well. They are funny things. Cry and laugh and cry and relief, then cry again.

Got to go and conjure up edibles for first the cats, then the man. Hope I don't get confused? Otherwise cats will be eating pork sausages and baked beans and Roger will be swimming in Tuscan baked turkey with long grain rice in a delicate sauce?

PS just watched Roger trying to fold the diffuser again. Cat bed methinks.

Good morning washers.

Hi Annie and Geoff.

Not up early, but still up late. I was feeling a bit ill all day, so I napped most of the day. Now I am wide awake. Trying to find some excuses to put off doing some housework. Too early for vacuuming - didn't I plan that well?

Dentist later, may lose some teeth to prepare for implants. Not feeling chatty at the moment, so just fast ((( ))) to all.

02-13-2013, 02:50 AM
Hi Doris. housework doesn't need many excuses. Dentists need LOTS  Get better and pat your aristocratic master.

02-13-2013, 03:20 AM
Good morning all, dry at the moment and 0C, but snow is nearby in the Irish Sea. Can't be far away, the breeze is up.

Hi Annie, glad you didn't mix up the food :) LOL at folding the diffuser/

Hi Geoff, Doris.

Just been changing the bed, Jean arrives this morning for a couple of days. It's her birthday tomorrow.

02-13-2013, 03:39 AM
hi everyone, too tired to talk now, but wondering if anyone's lawn needs mowing??

02-13-2013, 03:45 AM
Tell me it's a joke Lulu. Please? Not a real tattoo?

If it is, he is a marked man,

02-13-2013, 03:55 AM
Change that for a power washer Lulu an you're hired :)

Snow has started drifting down :(

02-13-2013, 03:55 AM
Who knows Annie, saw it on faceache.....

Reminds me of buying something in a shop today, the girl serving me had her arms and chest totally covered in tats, not her face though, that was full of piercings. I tried to keep the conversation going so I could look without seeming to look lol
They did look good though, just glad it wasn't my grandaughter lol (sorry Darla :) )

02-13-2013, 04:06 AM
Faceache? You speak Strayan Lulu.

Gone now to dish up the turkey

Good Day All,
Was not able to catch the raccoon, yet, but his days are numbered.

Temps to be near 40 F today, so we'll break out of the house and do some shopping. Supplies are running low.

((Lulu,)) sorry you will need the splint for so long. I hope it heals well.

Annie, photo diffuser/reflector thingy? Strayan? It must be too early for me.

Doug, sounds like you'll be breaking out the dominoes.

Good morning all, 3 deg C, force 5 SE wind and grey.

What a wonderful group of friends you all are, thank you all so much for your support and suggestions, I was just a bit knocked back at first but now, as has been suggested, will try to mould the help available to suit Beryl and me. I quite like the Nurses uniform anyway, particularly on a lady  .

I was lifted by a painting in the galery today by Mike, it shows the Needles rocks and lighthouse, it is so good I could almost be there sailing again.

Geoff, I am glad the service went ok, a relief now probably I think.

love and light to all must rush, doctor due.

Morning all. It's 6 am and the morning birds are just starting to sing. I've been up since 3 when we lost power just long enough to wake me up, and setting off every back up alarm in the house. No one else heard them, but the oven clock *not on back up* needing reset this morning, tells the tale that I didn't imagine it.

3 days and 8 inches of rain. It's a tad drippy out there. The rivers and creeks are out of their banks and the flow from up river still needs to get here. Luckily the base is on a hill. I'll see about photos later today.

Still need to get something on the watercolor board. I tried yesterday, but after three hours it still wasn't drying, so I over played while working and made mud. HA! Mud.

Day of NOAA and NASA computer conferences. All I want to do is nap and paint. Oh well. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz............

Have a good day all.

Good Day Washers from a still too dark morning in the Grove. The pain medication effects my sleep patterns. I will be glad when I can cut them back a bit. Maybe tomorrow. :crossfingers:

Lulu, sorry that you have to wear a splint for a while but very glad that the specialist knew exactly what was wrong and the fix although awkward sounds easy.

Annie, I am as confused as Bill :)

Doris, hope you are feeling better by now.

Char, yes, orange raisin scones with a few saskatoon berries thrown in. Always use your recipe and have been upping the orange juice/ milk ratio to 1/2 and 1/2.

Caryl, choc chip they sound yummy.

Henry, Dan and I watched a documentary last evening all about your Caledonian Canal. What a beautiful country you live in. I must confess, we did not know it existed. ( the canal not the country :) ) So glad we stumbled across the hour long program that took us from the North Sea at Inverness to Corpach in the S.W.

Time to move around for a few minutes.

02-13-2013, 07:19 AM
Good morning... Our temperatures are dropping and all the rain that couldn't find a place to go is now frozen. Our driveway is covered by slippery ruts and icey gravel.

No real plans for this morning, my last Class of this workshop is this afternoon. My next workshop begins next month, so I have a bit of a break.

The herd is outside doing what's necessary. The kitten thinks he should go out with the big guys, but always wants back in right away because he hates it out there.

The Olympic Committee has decided that Wrestling shouldn't be on the venue. What??

((Geoff)) It's been a difficult week.

Annie, I don't know what a diffuser thingy is either... If cardboard, I'm sure your kitties will be playing with it.

I hope you finally managed to get to sleep, Doris... sorry that you weren't feeling very well, though.

 Jean's visit, Doug!

Well... that brave gent could always wear a hat, Lulu... :) I'm amazed how quickly your hand was treated! Let's hope this does the trick to get it healed!

Hi Bill and JJ...

Nipper, it really does help to be able to vent... and we do listen well... :)

Caryl... hair blower.

Gail, only drop your meds if you are healed enough to drop your meds. *wagging finger* I love those orange scones... I need to make bread today.

I cannot find the remote control for the tv's sound system. The last person to watch tv was my deaf-as-a-post-husband. Trying to watch this morning's news is blasting my ear drums... this isn't going to work unless I can find the darned thing... So... I'm off to locate what's lost.

Have the best possible day, everyone!

02-13-2013, 08:34 AM
 Good day all! Looks clear and bright out there, no sun yet. We have been having milder temps, hope it is good this aft as I have to walk down to town.

I saw that show last night too, Gail. I have been following 'Coast' for the last couple of years, wonderful program! Every Tuesday on TVO at 7:00, for those in Ontario. When we were at Inverness I wasn't far from the outlet to the sound, didn't know about the canal, though, I wish I had.

Glad you have a solution, Lulu, you are a creative person, I am sure you will learn to manage that paintbrush!

I suspect that Roger's diffuser is one of those folded screens like the sunshades people put in their cars.......hard to refold! Loved your text today, Annie  I almost bought a tent built on the same principle, but thought I would never get it back in the bag again.

Hi Char, Geoff, (((Doris))), (((Nipper))), Caryl, JJ, Bill, Doug, and all to come, have a rewarding day :grouphug:  :grouphug:

02-13-2013, 08:38 AM
Happy Hump Day all! and I'll throw in a few hearts for tomorrow's Valentine's Day.

It's SUNNY out this morning but cold. The sun feels so good.

Annie, I had a good  at your story even though I'm like the rest...I don't know what a diffuser is.

LuLu, that is okay to say; I too have a hard time looking at people who are all tatted and pierced up. It makes it hard to look them in the eye. And the piercings oh my. I'm sorry you have to wear a brace but to give your thumb time to heal it's necessary.

GEoff, I hope now you can relax and have some peace; and will get to go caravanning this weekend. I'm glad the ceremony went nice and that you were pleased with it.

Doug, ENJOY Jean's visit...and tell her HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Gail, I cannot wait for our trip to Scotland and England. THe scenery will inspire and awe me I'm sure. I hope you will be able to decrease your pain meds too; don't over-do it and rest; let yourself heal.

CHar, when walking on my treadmill I have to turn up the volume on the TV so that I can hear above the noise; but when I turn it off I have to immediately turn it down. Larry likes it too loud too.

Caryl, wow you guys must feel like mushrooms, all damp and moist. That is A LOT of rain. I hope it stopped now? Your scones sounded good.

Doris, waving to you and I hope you feel much better now.

Bill, get yourself some coffee...

JJ, zipppp you blew through quickly giving hugs. Back at ya! ;)

Lynn, we have a tent in a bag; it is for sure hard to fold it to fit in the bag.

I didn't have time to take a pic of my painting to put in the studio, maybe tonight. We had the girls for dinner and I stopped to get a haircut after work. THen we watched a little basketball on TV.

I hope you all have a most wonderful day and may it fill you with happiness and contentment.:grouphug:

02-13-2013, 10:39 AM
Popping in quickly again!

photo diffusers or reflectors can be a bugaboo...I have a bunch of em..Big circles that "fold" into small circles. Until you get used to them it can be hard to make them behave....once you get the knack of it though it's easy and others think you've done magic! I have a 4 foot one that folds down to less than a foot in diameter!

Anne has been having an allergic reaction to one of her meds...we think it is her niacin tablet...had to rush out and get benedryl for her she looked like a raspberry she was so bumpy and red!!

So Caryl..you're getting OUR rain eh? This has been a pretty dry year for us so far...and this is our WET time!!

Have to dash...
Hugs to all!

02-13-2013, 10:41 AM
Afternoon all.....

Well we laid my Mothers ashes in my sisters grave and said a couple of prayers, very simple and set off for the Home where we dropped some cards and gifts off........they have lost another one this week.....

Coming back to the village it started to snow and snow and snow and with very high winds it is drifting even against the side of our house.....NO JJ I am not going out with a camera.........

Hopefully it will soon go as rain forecast overnight and we need to get to our friends funeral tomorrow........yes long week, thanks for the support Washers.

Caravanning isn't out of the question if the snow goes!

02-13-2013, 10:52 AM
I hope the snow, which is falling fast down here too, goes fast! We're supposed to be in your neck of the woods this weekend, Geoff, at a dinner dance in Tadcaster. We eon't be going if this weather keeps on. I've just been out to the GP, arranging how I can reduce my meds, too. Don't try and go too fast, Gail!

02-13-2013, 11:07 AM
Hiya

Hope y'all are having a good day. I find I have lost my smile lately, but expect it will return in good order. One side effect is DD has said that we (Jack and I) need to decide what we would like and where when that time comes (ick)
Sunny and warmish here, which has the side effect of stirring up my allergies.
Oh well off to get allergy medication, Gridley (Sac Valley) where the service will take place is allergy central for me.

It seems, Dorner the rogue ex-cop, that was running around Southern California killing Police officers and others, has met with a firey end and not soon enough. This made my sick-ish mind to come up with a favorite lunch, involving "Donner" and "Kabob" Always surprised where my mind will go.

02-13-2013, 11:29 AM
Hi to All

snowing here

Geoff, I'm pleased to hear that the funeral went smoothly

Gail, Yes I do live in a beautiful country, the Highlands of Scotland are my favourite place on Earth (I am biased of course) the endless variation of light and weather moods are astounding

Lulu. have you noticed that people with piercings never work in a scrap yard

Nipper, Mikes painting is super, here is one I did mant years ago in a different style with Acrylics

Hi Hap, Hi Kate, Hi Judy.

If it's any help, we have rain now Geoff and it has cleared all the snow away.

Off out to friends tonight for a game of chickenfoot and supper.

First we call in at another friend's to see Ruth's grandfather's wall clock which our friend is repairing. We reckon it is Victorian, made by Jungans?

02-13-2013, 11:33 AM
Char - my hair dryer wasn't with me yesterday :)

Hap - yes, this is the rainy season here too. However, we've been in drought down here for almost 5 years and the wet hasn't come. With everything still dormant though, the rain doesn't get pulled into the ground and used like it normally does. So it runs off and makes a mess.

and it is raining again as we speak...but only drizzle. Then we should be good and clear (and cold) until Monday.

02-13-2013, 11:53 AM

Kate..I'm sure that the snow will have all gone by then........

02-13-2013, 12:25 PM
Hi Washers,

Sunny and cool here. Now don't laugh, but I pulled out my Irish sweater to walk to the library last evening. I have no idea what the temp was, but I was cold. Didn't cover my ears, and they ached until I got back home and warmed up again.

The producer of the web series asked us to name our own characters. Since I called myself "The Purpler" when I auditioned, I was thinking of Penelope. Apparently so was he. Sent me an email with "How about Penelope?" I laughed. I said, "Yes but it should be something double-barreled like Penelope Prampton Purpler." He loved it. So there you go. Penelope Prampton Purpler it is.

I got the diffuser thingy, but what is "faceache"? Is that another name for Facebook? If so I'm stealing it.

Had to laugh Lynn when you mentioned the folding sun visor thingy. I have one like that, and haven't been able to fold it since I got it. I simply throw it over into the back seat. If I need the back seat for passengers I throw it in the trunk -- unfolded.

((((((Geoff)))))) long week for you.

Nipper Geoff, good for you. I think you and Beryl will come to some agreement with them.

Stunning painting as usual Henry. And your brother's photos are just so beautiful. What I saw of Scotland was beautiful. I ended up sick as could be and spent one whole day of my holiday in bed instead of looking at the scenery. :(

Have fun with your sister Doug. And a Happy Birthday to her.

Judy I'm surprised the kids were off Monday. President's Day isn't until next Monday. Are you sure they weren't having you on? Donner kabobs. Oh that is naughty!

(((((Doris))))) Hope dentist isn't too traumatic. Just went for my cleaning yesterday. Seems the Water Pik is doing a very good job -- as long as I wield it.

Well I'm going to say ^^^ what everyone else said. Must do laundry today as I have managed to put it off for two days, and it stubbornly refuses to do itself. :(

Well woke up this morning to snow coming down fast and furious - so I cancelled Mum's hospital appt for tomorrow - then it has started raining and the snow is disappearing.

Oh well it doesn't really matter - made her another appt in August - it is only to see the neurologist re the tremors in her hand but she hasn't had a problem with it for ages now so am ok with waiting so long for another appt.

Lots of conspiracy theories going around about the Pope's resignation - the latest one is about Satanism in the Vatican.....this was posted on FB by my cousin - I think she has too much time on her hands ;)

Am definitely going to ask Leo about this one - mind you he still hasn't got over the theory I put to him about the Queen being the Anti Christ.....lol.

Better take my leave and sort out SWMBO's snack - told her she had to give up cake for Lent - she was adamant that Leo told her that at her age she was exempt.....hmmmmmmm.....lol.

Am going to say .....what Darla said.....sending love and hugs all around.

Kay - Penelope Purpler! ala Stan Lee !

He's an aliterative namer too !

Good Afternoon Everyone!!

Gorgeous day, sunny and not too cold, meaning somewhere around freezing.

I very rarely nap, but once again, I had to have a nap after coming home from table tennis. That trainer is working us to death:lol: Am getting my forehand smash back very nicely:thumbsup:

This is also a "take Ave for swimming lesson" day. Probably followed by dinner at kids place:thumbsup:

I am looking for a box or bottle of Calgon Water Softener. Nowhere to be found, thought maybe Wallmart might carry it, no, not any more BUT as I was walking back out I passed right by a stand with jeans, black and blue, that fit absolutely perfectly and were only $ 12 each. I bought 3 pairs:thumbsup:

My car needed to have the emmission test done, so I went off to Toyota for that. My little baby passed with flying colours:thumbsup:

and I did my walk in the gym. My low blood pressure is driving me nuts, makes the whole body feel exhausted. Apart from drinking lots and eating salty stuff there is nothing that can be done, even GOOGLE:heart: has nothing better to offer:rolleyes:

Small worry in comparison to others like

:grouphug: to you Nipper Geoff!!!!!!!!! I REALLY hope something can be figured out beneficial to all involved.:crossfingers: :crossfingers:

((((((Geoff)))))))) Very nice that everything went so well with your mom's funeral, may she rest in perfect peace!!!!!

((((((((Gail)))))))) so glad you are doing well!! I read you are rewarding yourself with yummy things:lol:

Pat, one has to shake one's head with the conspiracies:lol:

Caryl, what a shame that the plants aren't taking advantage of the lovely rain.

Annie, poor Roger, but you made me laugh (don't tell him!!) Oh, and I REALLY feel for you re the shortening days.

Kay, fun name!!!

Henry, GORGEOUS painting!!!

Hap, so glad you figured out what caused the rash, could really scare you if you didn't know.

Darla, great that you got to see the girls!!!!

Lynn, how do you like the mattress????

Char, you are so right, I wouldn't have a clue how to adjust the sound etc. without the dohicki. I am sure there is a place comewhere. The rest will do you good!!

Doug, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your sister Jean!! Nice for you that she is visiting!!!

Kat, that is good news!!!

 to ALL!! Time to open the shades and let the beautiful sunshine in, had to close them so I could see the computer screen.

02-13-2013, 03:14 PM
SHHHH they're sleeping. (the plants)

No calgon on the top shelf of the detergent row? Usually with the bluing and bleach, next to the 20 mule team borax box.

02-13-2013, 03:25 PM
Annie , you are always so succinct ,with the Right word always !!!:)
Char , we are getting your weather again, tonight rain and freezing . Tell Matt to be careful.
We had the same problem here ,with me wanting everything tuned Up and Louie lowering the volume down to inaudible so he can Read . I bought a second Remote on the Net for me and he doesn't get to fool with it case it's mine !
Darla , We loved Scotland by train , You can really see the Panoramic views so well . The people are also a delight .We were helped by a lovely gentleman on the street who helped us find our way without our even asking . Louie also learned to drink LaPhroigh(sp?) which he is just finishing off ,after many years of not imbibing.
Be well all ,
PS -Patty , I heard the same rumor that anyone 80 and over Can eat Cake at Lent . Mom is always right !

02-13-2013, 03:49 PM
but what is "faceache"? Is that another name for Facebook? If so I'm stealing it.

That's it Kay :) steal away:thumbsup:

Bill, Strayan.........short for Australian.....said with an Ocker accent:D

Didn't have a very comfortable night, have made some minor adjustments this morning to the splint, a nip here, a nip there.

Breakfast is calling me

02-13-2013, 04:29 PM
Stopped snowing but still blowing hard.....Claire says their snow had gone at teatime...ours hasn't..........

Pat (Europa)...Satanic works.....that would be FB again........thats the work of the devil........

02-13-2013, 04:56 PM
If it's used in that way Geoff, I would have to agree with you.
As with anything, it is how it is used that makes the difference...

02-13-2013, 05:03 PM
Uschi, I am still working on it. The one from Ikea is good, but not quite deep enough. So have bought 2 more inches of memory foam and will model the bed after the curve that the air mattress had, I think that will work. Then encase it all in a zipper cover......putting my creative skills to work! I thought about returning the mattress, but it gives a good foundation for the remodeling.

I know what you mean about the low BP, I am lucky, mine is not quite as low as yours, but I still get the vertical hypo-tension sometimes, can't stand up too quick!

Yup, that's the device, Kay.....and I love the name for your video! Do you start filming right away?

02-13-2013, 05:27 PM
Greetings Everyone, has been a longgg time since I stopped by. You may not remember me but that's ok. Past few years were very difficult with loss of family members. I am attempting to get back in the world of living, new chapter of life. Sorry to say have not attempted Art in ages, promised myself to give it a try once again. Definitely a beginner. For now, just wanted to say hello, I see many familiar names here. Wishing each a wonderful awesome day. <>

02-13-2013, 05:39 PM
Welcome back Jackie! of course we remember you. So sorry for all your losses, makes the going very tough ...:grouphug: May the future be a brighter one for you. Glad you popped into the Wash to say hello.

02-13-2013, 06:19 PM
Thank You for your kindness Lulu.

Well its Valentines Day here.....so Happy Valentines Day to all because I love everyone of you:heart:

Went to the Hosp Tuesday for a consultation with my surgeon going back in on 20th March for more surgery.

(((hugs))) to everyone who needs them and there are quite a few of you too.
I am about to have my lunch and then a Nana nap.

02-13-2013, 09:12 PM
Good Evening all,
It is just after 9:00 p.m. here in dark Oakwood. Thought I'd check the Wash before heading up to read my book for an hour or so.

Welcome back Jackie. You were gone, but not forgotten. :D Sorry for your losses, but I'm glad you are thinking of painting again. It is like riding a bicycle, I'm sure you'll remember what you need to to get started soon. :D

Lulu, When my DH had his broken wrist, the physical therapist made him a splint like the one you are wearing. It was so interesting to see her cut the plastic, put it in the machine to warm, then shape it to fit his wrist. Hope your thumb gets better quickly so you can be split free soon.

Penelope Prampton Purpler aka Kay, Love your moniker and am looking forward to seeing her in the show. We have the window screen for the car that looks a bit like your diffuser only longer. My husband does what you do with it...throws it in the back seat, but I learned the trick and can fold it up into a little circle with just a twist of the wrists. ;)

Henry, I saw your brother's photos in the Wash yesterday...he is quite the artist with the camera. WOW!

Hap, Poor Annie being allergic and getting a rash that must be so uncomfortable. Hope the doctors can prescribe something else that doesn't cause the problem. :o

TMTAI, so I'll just  to all who were here before me.
