Evening all!

Peter, the vegetarian vampire and poet   keep well. Is Yvonne coping with her parents illnesses OK?

Hi Doug and Geoff.

Treacle walking here. Gave myself a deadline for the taxes by making an appointment. Computer coughed .... a lot. It goes to computer hospital tomorrow but luckily I have things to a point where a simple calculator will do. Otherwise it would be long numbers adding up mentally. Just like school.

Why the panic? Procrastination is king. I've done lots of other stuff ... like book for my nieces wedding in two weeks. Couldnt get a Virgin flight ( the airline that doesn't go all the way and my preference)... had to book with Australia's only one star airline ... Jetstar. Roger calls it Deathstar.

It's all jokes folks.

Someone has to come up Friday and change batteries in the alarm sensors. something went wrong in the great storm. It works but the beeping and phone calls are driving me nuttier. betcha it's a ten second job :( I tried and set off the alarm  Couldn't see any batteries either, but they must have them.

What else has happened? Work and the get to and from. Washing is still on the line ... airing

Darla our mornings are getting noticeably darker :crying:

Small black one and large(OK pleasantly plump) brown one are in.

Dinner is planned for us.

So the world turns.

Hi Annie, I'm a master at procrastination. I find that fixing a deadline is my only motivation.

Yes Doug. it does work.

Unfortunately our Caesar has a tight schedule for which to render unto, which I may just jump under. Naughty me. Slap on wrist icon. Defence, ducking the slaps? It is just so boring.

My next years resolution is to cut it less fine than this year. We'll see.

I still have this quarters BAS to do. Read VAT.

Hi Peter, Doug and Annie too
Just on our way to bed here, too tired to talk, busy day, busy night (art class). Will have something more to eat and then hit the hay.......
Hand specialist appointment tomorrow - thumbs crossed! It's very variable, sometimes I think there's nothing much wrong, then other times there is obvous tissue swelling and more pain, so will see....

Good Morning everyone, 2.5 dEg C, ENE breeze and grey here.

Well the young doctor has been. He tells me I have got to the stage that requires me to be registered as an outpatient at the hospice. I told him that I wish to give that place a wide berth. He says they have the specialised nurses I require. I told him I have my Nurse Beryl. He says Nurse Beryl will be exhausted soon. I told him that you cannot see the sea from the hospice. I reluctantly agree to his advice, strange, it was not long ago he and I were sailing together, I did not see this coming.

My painting looked good yesterday morning, then I finished it, oh dear.

Beryl has returned and is upset, she won't let me go to the hospice she says.

I think I have been over keen on the use of making fluid, the painting looked better before I rubbed it off.

My boys put me on Facebook, good grief you can waste some time with that.

Peace and light to all, off to loose myself in painting.

Good Day All,
Laptop computer giving me trouble. It may have to go to computer hospital, too.

(((Geoff H)

I chased the varmint away last night, but I know he'll be back. It was a large raccoon at the door just about to enter Ms. Feral's den. I must put something more tempting in the trap, I guess.

Snow expected today,

Good Morning all,
It is quarter to seven in the a.m. here in still dark Oakwood. Saw the Wash was started early last night (Monday), but decided to wait for morning to post. ;) No major plans for the day, probably go grocery shopping this morning.

Hope to put more paint on mushrooms, it is moving along. Then I need to look through the RIL or my art books for images I can use for the "homework" Nita assigned yesterday. We are going to concentrate on shapes for a while. We are supposed to find a reference and then draw or trace the major shapes we see...not worry about drawing the image, just seeing the shapes the artist used to make the painting. Should be fun. She isn't the first one to talk about finding the shapes to connect in a composition. But this will be the first time I paid attention. ;)

Nipper, When my Mom needed Hospice help, the aide came to our house to help out. Does your Hospice have that kind of care to help your Nurse Beryl in working with you? :grouphug:

Bill, Those raccoons can be BIG and tenacious and fierce. Hope you can lure it into your trap so you and Ms Feral can enjoy your peaceful comradeship. :crossfingers:

Lulu, Hope the hand specialist is able to diagnosis the problem and give you a solution for it. It is tough when the symptoms come and go like that.

Annie, Have "fun" getting your taxes done. Clark Howard, a financial guru on the radio here, has issued a warning which we passed on to our kids about scammers who are stealing people's identities and filing tax returns somehow and getting their return checks before the real person files and finds out he or she was "already issued a refund". What a nightmare that would be trying to prove it wasn't the actual person who filed it but a thief.

Geoff, Thinking of you and your Mom today too. :grouphug:

 to all who were here before me. White light to all who are ailing or aching.

SYL,

Sylvia

The Raccoon decided to take up residence in Ms. Feral's home overnight. She tipped me off by peaking in with a fluffy tale. It took a broom a few hard pokes to dislodge the bugger. To think, I actually took out her empty dish and replaced it while the raccoon was in there. Couldn't see it under the curtain of plastic. He's not even supposed to be active at this time of year.

Dark and paynes gray skies out there this morning. Damp too as temps are mild. I'm not real sure what is planned weatherwise but I think it's got some flurries in it.

(((GEOFF))) here Hospice workers come to the house; that would be much better for you so that Nurse Beryl could get some help and you could stay home. That way you can still see the water. :grouphug: I'm praying for you and your family.

BIll, a raccoon! I knew it. Ugh...I get the shivers thinking of you grabbing that dish with him in Ms Feral's den. He sounds like he's making himself right at home.

Both Larry and I had bad stomach aches and diahrrea last night. We don't know if we had just a little bug or what. It was right after we ate though. Hope the hamburger was okay that went into the meatloaf;Larry picked it up at our neighborhood grocery as they always have good meat. I doubt that was the case. Anyway I still have a slight stomache ache this morning. Not nauseous though so that is good.

Annie, sorry your nights are getting darker...

Sylvia, your new activity sounds good; shapes. Sometimes I forget to simplify things by studying the shapes in a ref pic.

Doug, I hope you have a most enjoyable day.

Peter, nice poem...no chocolate here sorry. I bought boxes of chocolates for Matt, Jen and the girls though; I'll give them to them on Thursday. I usually buy one for Larry too but this year neither of us needs it.

Geoff, that kitty is so cross-eyed.

Waving you you Ellen, have a good day at work!

I'm still contemplating my background for my tulip painting. I'm having nervous shivers about even attempting it but it's almost finished and I need to move on so...maybe tonight...but the girls will be there so perhaps not tonight...but soon.

Larry and I watched a couple of sit-coms last night; and they were on from 8-8:30 and 8:30 -9. While kids might be watching...I couldn't believe the subject (sex) discussed and the things they were saying! Un-real.

Sending healing vibes to all in need, hugs to all who want a free one and waving to all who are yet to come.

Make it a GREAT day all.

Hi Sylvia, Bill, Darla, have a great day.

Chocolate - as we don't drink when we have a dinner party friends have taken to bringing chocolates for us. Last time it was three boxes and a box of chocolate biscuits :) As we are both on a diet we ration ourselves to one chocolate a day :)

They buy us chocolates and we buy them wine

Oh Doug....I'd say Chocolate AND wine!  I know that chocolate sometimes gives you a headache(and wine can give me one) so I imagine you have to be careful how much you eat at a time. GOOD chocolate is the best.

((((GAIL)))) hoping you are feeling better every day.

(((((GEOFF)))) (((((JUDY)))) such sad days for you...thinking of you all.

Morning Washers Grey skies and + 1 C. No plans for today

Actually, my work out for today is in the oven. I thought I would like some fresh scones this morning, so Dan got everything out and blended the cold buter into the dry ingredients. I did the rest. Now I am resting and ready for a nap  They will last me for a week or so because I freeze them as soon as they are cool and just take out one as a time as needed .

Thinking of you this week Geoff. A :grouphug: for today.

Bill, i guess you have provided a cozy enough environment that the racoon has no need to hibernate. Hope you can trap him quickly so Ms Feral can sleep peacefully at night.

(((Nipper)))) hoping Hospice is only needed as a bit of respite for Beryl and that exaberations slow down and you start to plateau.
ahh, masking fluid. A love/hate relationship. Once you start working on on those stark white areas those hard edges will soften and all will blend together. Remember the Huge advantage of masking fluid is that nothing will ever look pasted on.

Darla, hoping you are feeling better this afternoon. Can you show us your tulips in the Studio ? You could also search out Uschi's or madmum's paintings as they both have painted lots of tulips and other florals with varied backgrounds.

Lulu, :crossfingers: that whaterver is going on with your hand is an easy fix.

Well I have eaten a warm scone and topped up my cofee so time for a lie down.

Hi to All

Geoff (Nipper) difficult decision to be made, the water view one sounds good, take care :)

It is a horrible day here, cold windy and damp, but warm inside my studio where I paint to my hearts content, and like Nipper, lose myself onto another dimension.

Here are a couple of sunset photos my brother took near his Northern Thailand home

AFTERNOON WASHGANGEROOS!!!

Sending hugs to ((((Geoff)))) and (((Nipper))) and anyone else needing a hug.

Well - what about our Pope resigning eh.....first time in 600 years - although I have to admire his decision - although it is expected for our Pope to die in office after watching John Paul II deteriorate on the world stage I found that rather distressing so I think he has made the right decision.

Maybe they will pick a younger guy this time - must admit though I wasn't keen on this Pope - seems that most of the souvenires (sp) in the Vatican gift shop have JPII's face on them.

Also discovered that any baptised Catholic male is eligible to become Pope so have sent a message to DS Jamie to get on a plane - I could do with a nice holiday home in Italy. ;)

People have been asking me if my friend Vincent was in line for the job - unfortunately not although I think he may make Cardinal soon so fingers crossed on that. :crossfingers: ( I will make that balcony in St Peter's Square one day.....lol)

Another interesting point is that re the six degrees of separation theory - with me knowing Vincent and him knowing The Pope and him knowing God - means am only 2 degrees away from God - - pardon me whilst I polish my halo. ;)

On a more serious note - we are still working on sorting out the latest business setback - and for a change the bank have been on our back again....oh dear......well it could be worse - at least we have a roof over our heads and warmth and food on the table - lots of people don't so have to count our blessings.

Mum goes to see the Neurosurgeon on Thursday then to see the Orthopaedic Surgeon on Monday re her shoulder operation. She was a bit down yesterday as it seems all her problems are hurting her all at once but fortunately I managed to make her laugh which as we know is the best medicine.

I didn't realise it was Pancake Tuesday today - see what happens when you don't get out - all the days merge into one.....lol. So that means Ash Wednesday tomorrow and the start of Lent - what am I giving up........hmmmmmm let me think.......maybe drinking whisky......(I dont actually drink whisky so that seems a good choice)

Nothing much else to report - the weather here is a bit cold but no snow on the horizon as yet.

Sending white light to those in need and big hugs all around.

Waving to everyone

Wow... it's already past noon... Where did the morning get to???

I had a few things that had to be submitted to the Centre for my upcoming Beginners' Class. And I had a couple of notes that needed to be sent out for my Service Club. And then, I painted with my Tuesday morning friend.

Actually, we're not painting. We've been sketching since before Christmas. I bought a lovely sketchbook for myself and have been filling it with various and sundry things that we each select for our subjects each week. Last week, though, I sketched my eldest Son's eyes and this week, I did the middle Son's eyes. It's absolutely amazing to me, their Mother, that I never noticed how similar their ears are! Next week, I'll sketch out Magoo... This is good practice for me because I want to do each of their portraits as Christmas gifts for their significant Others...

I'm sure you're still resting up before your shift tonight, Peter! Congratulations on winning your first Kewpie Doll!

Geoff, green eyed cat...

Doug, we don't drink either. But, I do like the non-alcoholic beer that we can buy in the grocery store.

Can you feel the Force, Annie?? Don't go to the darkside! Procrastination is our friend... :)

Lulu, I sure hope you can find out what's going on with your hand...

Nipper, I'd like to see your painting so hope that you'll post it. Someone suggested home care... it would sure be of help to both you and Nurse Beryl for the interim...

:crossfingers: that there's nothing seriously wrong with your laptop, Bill... perhaps it just needs a good internal cleaning... those tiny little fans have such a big job to do.

 Ellen!

:crossfingers: that you don't have the flu, Darla!

Mmmm, scones... :) Did you make the orange ones, Gail?

Backatcha Lynn

Glub, glub, Caryl! We don't get many skeeters here... No thanks on the West Nile.

Gorgeous photos, Henry... you brother is an amazing photographer!

I've had my lunch while typing this... My next Class will be here soon, so I'd better clear this morning's stuff from the table. Have lsdfvdfs

Bill perhaps you could make Ms Feral a new house, box the racoon in the other and do what is needed to rid her of the rotten rascal!
Quiet today, but need to run out and buy the Boy a new shirt for the memorial, he has been growing, which explains his growing appetite!
Son Jim and wife Amy are flying out for the service, first time she will have been to see the new house.
I must clean and sort  but will be good to have them here, even if it's only for a long weekend.

Good evening all,

Today was an exciting day. I picked up my bionic ear....open fit hearing aid. What a difference it makes. I don't hear myself talking in a strange voice, background noises are not as loud as with the old one, and my ear is open with a tiny speaker in it. It needs to be tweaked a little next week, because I have to have the TV a little louder again. That is the only problem that I have had.

Pat, I heard the same thing this morning that any Catholic man could become Pope. How come we never heard that before? Hope they pick a younger one this time.

Nipper Geoff, "Outpatient" in the US means you go to a medical facility during the day and come home at night. Whatever decision you make will be the right one for you and Beryl.

Bill, good luck in getting the raccoon out of the nice warm house for Ms. Feral. Free food, water, and heat!!!! It found a little bit of heaven.

Hello to everyone I missed. Hugs to all in need!

Hi Everyone on our Wednesday afternoon:wave:
Firstly, Geoff H, a big hug to you  We'll keep you company. ((( )))
Judy too, Geoff, and Winnie and Gail :grouphug:

Yes, Ash Wednesday here........forgot about it when we were out to lunch, (we obvserve no meat on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday) but have fish for dinner tonight. We are going to the combined Catholic/Anglican service.
Btw Pat, when JPII came to NZ we went to Wellington to see him and Mum thought she had died and gone to heaven lol
Have to say that being at St Peter's was awesome....Benedict was pretty impressive too.

Went to the hand specialist today, one look and then no mucking around, it has to be splinted so she made one there and then (heated plastic and moulded to my hand).
I have to keep the thumb immobilised for at least 6 weeks to give the tendon at the base a chance of healing. I can't bend my thumb at all now but she made the splint so I could still hold a paint-brush, a little awkwardly, but better than nothing.. I'm not sure how I got the injury, but it was about the time that I cut my hand the day the family left.

While we were in Hamilton I was able to get a couple of presents for John's birthday (coming up on the 21st).

Henry, fabulous photos!

Better go and have a cuppa and put my feet up for a while.

 to everyone.
