This is incredibly beautiful!! It almost looks like the painting is glowing. It is truly gorgeous. It reminds me a great deal of my father's farm in central Texas, and brings back many fond memories.

Steve, this painting is so very fantastically beautiful, it just made me feel so warm with many memories. I love it. I did not know gouache could be painted up to be so stunning. It has been 20 years since I used watercolours and am now adding white gouache to help me along. You say you painted on "panel" .... what kind of panel do you mean?
I am very undecided as to what base to use. Or if you are busy, then maybe someone else could explain. Thank you all. Gail.

Glad y'all enjoy it. For such a small thing (11x16) it took awhile to paint. Over a week. I just finished building the frame this week end. Will post a pic.
I really like the sturdiness of panels & have used them for over 40 years. Nothing fancy needed. The idea is to use a wood that has so little resin that even over decades the likelihood of probs is small. I've settled on 3/8" and 1/2" furniture grade plywood. A 4'x8' sheet gives lotsa pieces! Sand with 220, coat with primer or gesso, sand to the smoothness required by guache.

I like it a lot... makes me want to sit on the porch and enjoy the smells and sounds of nature.
