Hi I have been playing around, the 1st one is a commission and is purely watercolour. In the 2nd I have been trying to get some new effects so in it I have tried a fine detailed pencil drawing with watercolour washes over it. Not sure which I prefer as the pencil drawin gin the 2nd did not show through despite stretching the paper first, as much as I had hoped.

Could you try watercolor with color pencil details on the top?
LIke the head tilt and eyes on the animals too.

They both look great. The dog looks so sad.
Maybe the watercolor diluted the pencil work. Is there some kind of fixative you could use on the pencil that you could still put watercolor over?
I sometimes use a little watercolor and then put colored pencil on top.
Regardless, it like the results on the cat.

Thanks folks think the pencil was diluted by the watercolour washes so next time will try a fixative of some sort. will have to do a bit of research as most of what I have read said that stretching the paper first would stop the pencil getting diluted.
